To summarize even more – Gretchen voted for everything and anything which required money (to make the city better) but low and behold did not realize “she” would have to help pay for the mess. I am sure she would be fine taxing others to death while she lived in her perfect city.

To address the big picture Gretchen – stop voting Democrat and stop voting for blind entitlements.

She should get with that restaurant owner in Seattle and compare notes – “Money doesn’t grow on trees” would be a great start.

Being a former Austinite but just west of there now, that light rail she voted for is a half billion dollar boondoggle along with the ridiculous mega-library they want to build (that no one will use, just like the limited rail system they already have).
The city council can’t find enough b.s. to spend money on.

“The big picture”, “lady,” is that fools like you don’t have a clue about economics or human nature.

I grew up intensely disliking Californicators because they would sell their property there and come to Oregon and offer twice as much as a piece of land was worth, knowing no locals could or would match their price. It drove the cost of land sky-high.

Then they would vote for the same policies and goodies they moved to escape!

We truly have gotten to the point of education teaching to the lowest common denominator.

Can there be any statement more clueless (not coming out of DC)? Just priceless. The big picture, lady is that if you, with a big enough group of other individuals, continually vote to raise taxes you will pay more taxes.

You have to wonder what she thinks the big picture is because she obviously can’t even add 2+2 to get 4. There are few words to express the monumental idiocy of the Gretchen Gardner statement. Now someone needs to ‘step in’? Who and in what way? Is that the lefty master plan? Indoctrinate people in to believing every amenity is a deserved entitlement, encourage them to tax themselves in to the poor house and then have big Gov step in and beggar the minority resisting communities/states on a federal level until nobody can afford their own lifestyles? Um, well yeah, that has been the plan for decades.

“The big picture” no doubt means more government intrusion. She’s so lost in it, she doubles down on the so-called fix.
She’s the poster child for Pelosi’s utopian commune of artists free from job lock because the ACA was going to step in and “address the big picture” of healthcare.
The irony in her statement is that it’s always the same with liberals – they NEVER look at the big picture. They want something done or provided and the consequences (unintended or otherwise) be damned. Until it hits them. Then it’s always someone elses fault.

The 78-17 Senate vote was a bipartisan show of support for the veteran government manager who most recently served as President Barack Obama’s budget director.

Wonder if she was the one responsible for the budgets submitted by her god and king that were unanimously rejected by Congress?

Brilliant!!! She is the epitome of the Peter Principle.

And oh, BTW Ms. Burwell, Mr. Obama wants you to water the unicorns now that you’ve been confirmed by a Senate more than willing to let the leech known as “Duh Prez” continue to be a pig on the taxpayers’ back.
