Sheila Jackson Lee Congratulates “Doug Moore” In Senate Victory

OMG, Sheila Jackson Lee
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) said *what*?

Oh Sheila Jackson Lee. Please call your office, ma’am. Stat.

Congrats for Democrat Doug Jones poured in all over social media after he defeated Republican Roy Moore last night in a hotly contested Alabama Senate race that was widely viewed by political analysts as a referendum on the agenda of President Trump:

With 100 percent of precincts reporting as of 12:00 a.m. ET Wednesday, Jones led Moore by a 49.9-48.4 percent margin, a difference of just under 21,000 votes; slightly more than 22,000 voters cast write-in ballots.

Jones’ victory is the first by a Democrat in an Alabama Senate race in 25 years and a powerful rebuke to both the Republican party, which sees it’s majority in the Senate cut to a single legislator, and President Donald Trump who supported two consecutive losing candidates in the race to fill Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ former seat.

One of Jones’ well-wishers was Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), who weighed in on Twitter with her thoughts on the election. Except she left many wondering as to exactly who it was she was congratulating in her tweet:

Er, um – Doug Moore?

American Lens‘ own AP Dillon gave it a good guess:

Twitter user Tracey Shapiro hit on what is perhaps closer to the real answer:

Ha! Could this be the start of a new hashtag?

How about #WeAreAllGladThisRaceIsOver? I’m kinda leaning towards that one myself.

For what it’s worth, Roy Moore has not yet conceded the race and is reportedly planning on requesting a recount.

As for Jackson Lee, the Texas Congressional representative managed to make a whole lot of people laugh in a closely-watched race where there was very little for many of us to smile about regardless of who won.

Never change, Rep. Jackson Lee. Never ever change.
