But don’t forget, they’re our partners in peace, you piece of filth

**Posted by Phineas

They just happen to think, and I quote, “Jews are Human pieces of filth.” That shouldn’t stop us from reaching out, right?

And here’s the transcript:

Yasser Qachlaq: The natural place for Barak is Poland, and the natural place for that idiot, Netanyahu, is Moscow, while the natural place for me is Safed.

[…]

I would like to say to Ben-Gurion: You little boy, tomorrow, my little son will stomp on your grave. He will deport your remains to your true country in Europe, and we will return.

[…]

Like Imam Khomeini said, back in the day, if each of us were to spit, we would drown out all five million of them. The number of Jews – those human pieces of filth – in my land equals one third of the people of the Nasr City neighborhood in Cairo.

[…]

Netanyahu, who says that the Right of Return should be resolved outside Israel, should resolve his own problem by returning to his homeland, Moscow. These are human pieces of filth. Even Balfour, when he got carried away, and gave my land to those Jews, said that he was doing so to get rid of them. They brought us those pieces of filth, and we should throw them back to their countries.

I’ll bet he’s good buddies with Helen Thomas.

The reason I post these clips (and there are many, many more in the MEMRI archives) is to illustrate that the problem between Israel and the Arabs isn’t about land or boundaries, regardless of what Qachlaq says; if it were, the issue would have been resolved long ago, perhaps before World War II. There have been plenty of opportunities, and the Arabs have shot them all down.

No, the root of the problem is cultural and religious, a Jew-hatred rooted in the core of Islam and supplemented with Nazi influences that pervades Islamic society from from the street to the elites and is fed and reinforced in the mosques, in the media, and by Arab governments every day.

How can you expect to make peace when so many believe it is a divine command to make war on you, and that you are nothing but “Human pieces of filth?”

POSTSCRIPT: I wrote this post last night and scheduled it for this morning. In the meantime, Power Line has published a post on House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s speech at AIPAC. In it is a story that I think illustrates well the point I was making above about making peace with a people raised from birth to want your death:

The following story illustrates Israel’s dilemma.

A Palestinian woman from Gaza arrives at Soroka Hospital in Beersheba for lifesaving skin treatment for burns over half her body. After the conclusion of her extensive treatment, the woman is invited back for follow-up visits to the outpatient clinic. One day she is caught at the border crossing wearing a suicide belt. Her intention? To blow herself up at the same clinic that saved her life.

What kind of culture leads one to do that?

Sadly, it is a culture infused with resentment and hatred.

It is this culture that underlies the Palestinians’ and the broader Arab world’s refusal to accept Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.

This is the root of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. It is not about the ’67 lines.

Oh, so that’s why the Jews are in Israel! Now I get it!

They’re there so the Muslims can massacre them and rid the world of their evil, just as Allah wishes! Isn’t that wonderful?

Hey, don’t take my word for it. Just ask Hamas MP and Islamic cleric(1) Yunis al-Astal:

The transcript:

Yunis Al-Astal: The [Jews] are brought in droves to Palestine so that the Palestinians – and the Islamic nation behind them – will have the honor of annihilating the evil of this gang.

[…]

All the predators, all the birds of prey, all the dangerous reptiles and insects, and all the lethal bacteria are far less dangerous than the Jews.

[…]

In just a few years, all the Zionists and the settlers will realize that their arrival in Palestine was for the purpose of the great massacre, by means of which Allah wants to relieve humanity of their evil.

[…]

When Palestine is liberated and its people return to it, and the entire region, with the grace of Allah, will have turned into the United States of Islam, the land of Palestine will become the capital of the Islamic Caliphate, and all these countries will turn into states within the Caliphate. When this happens, any Palestinian will be able to live anywhere, because the land of Islam is the property of all Muslims.

Until this happens, we must reject all the resettlement plans, naturalization, or even reparations prior to the return of the refugees.

(Emphases added)

Remember, this is the organization the Left would have us and Israel treat as legitimate “partners for peace.” The same group that regularly and indiscriminately rockets Israeli towns and cities — even school buses. And the same group that praised bin Laden on his death.

It’s all part of the divine plan, don’t you see? Just as kindly Mr. al-Astal explained.

(1) Which means he’s well-schooled in Islamic theology and law. Keep that in mind.

Friends and enemies: Muslim Brotherhood edition

**Posted by Phineas

In this episode, we learn to learn to tell friends from enemies by seeing what they say to each other in their own language.

Remember when our Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, said this about the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt?

At a House Intelligence Committee hearing earlier in the day, Rep. Sue Myrick (R-N.C.) questioned Clapper about the threat posed by the group. Clapper replied by suggesting that the Egyptian part of the Brotherhood is not particularly extreme and that the broader international movement is hard to generalize about.

“The term ‘Muslim Brotherhood’…is an umbrella term for a variety of movements, in the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried Al Qaeda as a perversion of Islam,” Clapper said. “They have pursued social ends, a betterment of the political order in Egypt, et cetera…..In other countries, there are also chapters or franchises of the Muslim Brotherhood, but there is no overarching agenda, particularly in pursuit of violence, at least internationally.”

I wonder how DNI Clapper feels now, after the Muslim Brotherhood said this about Osama bin Laden’s death:

Statement from the Muslim Brotherhood on the assassination of Sheikh(1) Osama bin Laden

The whole world has lived and the especially the Muslims have suffered from a fierce media campaign to label Islam as terrorism and to describe the Muslims as violent, by attaching the September 11th attacks to al-Qaeda(2).

Today, the U.S. president has announced that a special task force of U.S. marines has succeeded in assassinating Sheikh Osama bin Laden, a woman, and one of his children, along with a number of his companions(3). [With this development], We find that we are facing a new situation.

The Muslim Brotherhood declares that they are against the use of violence generally, and against the methods of assassination, and they are with the fair trial of anyone accused of any crime, whatsoever(4).

The Muslim Brotherhood demands for the world (in general) and the Western world, as peoples and governments (particularly) to stop linking Islam with terrorism(5), and to deliberately correct the erroneous image which it has already promoted for a number of years.

The Muslim Brotherhood confirms that the legitimate resistance against foreign occupation for any country is a legitimate right guaranteed by divine law and international convention. Confusion [shuffling papers] between legitimate resistance and violence against innocent people was intended by the Zionist enemy in particular.(6)

And so long as the occupation remains, the legitimate resistance will remain. It is on America, the NATO pact, and the European Union to speedily end the occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq and to recognize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.(7)

The Muslim Brotherhood demands that the United States cease its intelligence operations(8) against the violators and to desist from interfering in the internal affairs of any Arab or Muslim country.

The Muslim Brotherhood

Cairo, on the 29 of Jumada 1 1432 A.H., corresponding to May 2, 2011

Translation by Sami al-Abasi at Pajamas Media, who notes that the English-language release was scrubbed for Western consumption. Be sure to read the whole thing. Meanwhile, I’ve highlighted some points above:

(1) The Brotherhood bestows an Arab title of honor and respect on bin Laden. Not quite what you’d expect of someone who’s been accused of perverting Islam, but then, really, the only difference between the Brotherhood and al-Qaeda is the point at which the resort to violence is acceptable. The Brotherhood thinks al-Qaeda went violent too soon, risking a Western backlash. Thus, their disagreement is over strategy and tactics, not goals. And, contrary to the multi-culti fluff we’re fed on TV, bin Laden understood Islam very well. As does the Brotherhood.

(2) Yeah, awfully unfair of us to do that, since it was only bin Laden himself who took credit for the attacks, and his Operations Chief, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who admitted planning it. We really shouldn’t jump to conclusions.

(3) “Companions” is a deliberate allusion to the Companions of Muhammad, the original generation who took up Islam and fought alongside him. Thus the Brotherhood again honors and elevates the man who slaughtered nearly 3,000 Americans and countless Muslims.

(4) A “fair trial” under Sharia law, of course, since no trial held under laws created by Man can ever be fair or just. Remember, to the Brotherhood and other Salafis, democracy is a sham; something to be exploited with the eventual goal of implementing Allah’s divine law.

(5) Again, Islam is treated so unfairly. Just because Muhammad himself repeatedly invoked terror is no reason to associate the religion he created with terrorism. Or something. For example:

Allah said, ‘No Prophet before Muhammad took booty from his enemy nor prisoners for ransom.’ Muhammad said, ‘I was made victorious with terror. The earth was made a place for me to clean. I was given the most powerful words. Booty was made lawful for me. I was given the power to intercede. These five privileges were awarded to no prophet before me.’ –Ishak 326

(6) Bear in mind that the Brotherhood, as does its offshoot Hamas, considers Israel to be an “illegal occupation,” which means all Israelis are fair game for legitimate resistance terrorism. Key point: when the author distinguishes between legitimate targets and innocent victims, no Jews or Christians in Israel are innocent. And, hey, if you happen to get a few innocent Muslims, too, well… fortunes of war, and all that.

(7) And by this the Muslim Brotherhood supports terror attacks against American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, notwithstanding that those forces freed millions of Muslims from horrific tyrannies.

(8) By which the authors means the very kind of intelligence operations that allowed us to track down and kill bin Laden. Yeah, we’re going to jump right on that.

So here we have an organization that, when speaking in its own language, sanctifies our deadliest enemy; demands that we fool ourselves about the nature of jihad and the role of terror in it, and that bin Laden himself was acting in that those traditions; and authorizes terror attacks against Americans and their allies. Oh, and tries to hide it with a sanitized English version.

I’d call that an enemy, wouldn’t you?

PS: Clapper is still an idiot.

Lara Logan: “For an extended period of time, they raped me with their hands”

The CBS News correspondent, who was viciously sexually assaulted back in February, spoke to the New York Times about her horrific ordeal:

Lara Logan thought she was going to die in Tahrir Square when she was sexually assaulted by a mob on the night that Hosni Mubarak’s government fell in Cairo.

Ms. Logan, a CBS News correspondent, was in the square preparing a report for “60 Minutes” on Feb. 11 when the celebratory mood suddenly turned threatening. She was ripped away from her producer and bodyguard by a group of men who tore at her clothes and groped and beat her body. “For an extended period of time, they raped me with their hands,” Ms. Logan said in an interview with The New York Times. She estimated that the attack lasted for about 40 minutes and involved 200 to 300 men.

Ms. Logan, who returned to work this month, is expected to speak at length about the assault on the CBS News program “60 Minutes” on Sunday night.

[…]

The assault happened the day that Ms. Logan returned to Cairo, having left a week earlier after being detained and interrogated by Egyptian forces. “The city was on fire with celebration” over Mr. Mubarak’s exit, she said, comparing it to a Super Bowl party. She and a camera crew traversed Tahrir Square, the epicenter of the celebrations, interviewing Egyptians and posing for photographs with people who wanted to be seen with an American journalist.

“There was a moment that everything went wrong,” she recalled.

As the cameraman, Richard Butler, was swapping out a battery, Egyptian colleagues who were accompanying the camera crew heard men nearby talking about wanting to take Ms. Logan’s pants off. She said: “Our local people with us said, ‘We’ve gotta get out of here.’ That was literally the moment the mob set on me.”

Mr. Butler, Ms. Logan’s producer, Max McClellan, and two locally hired drivers were “helpless,” Mr. Fager said, “because the mob was just so powerful.” A bodyguard who had been hired to accompany the team was able to stay with Ms. Logan for a brief period of time.

“For Max,” the producer, “to see the bodyguard come out of the pile without her, that was one of the worst parts,” Mr. Fager said. He said Ms. Logan “described how her hand was sore for days after — and the she realized it was from holding on so tight” to the bodyguard’s hand.

“My clothes were torn to pieces,” Ms. Logan said.

She declined to go into more detail about the assault but said: “What really struck me was how merciless they were. They really enjoyed my pain and suffering. It incited them to more violence.”

She and CBS News are using what she went through to raise awareness of sexual assaults that happen to other female reporters but that ‘are rarely talked about within journalistic circles or in the news media’ according to the NYT. Her interview on CBS’ 60 Minutes airs at 7 pm ET on Sunday.

As much as I think it’s great that she’s speaking out about what she went through in an effort to help give more attention to the similar experiences other women journalists have gone through, I have serious doubts as to whether the underlying issue surrounding what happened – which is the anti-female culture that is Islam (as I and my co-blogger have discussed in detail here many times) will get the much-needed attention that it deserves. Female journalists report all over the world in the middle of crowded streets full of demonstrators, but they’re rarely subjected to sexual assaults like the one Logan suffered through.

Yes, the issue of sexual crimes against female journalists needs to be addressed strongly and condemned roundly, but so do the root causes of why sexual crimes against women happen so often in Middle Eastern countries – where the assaults are not considered “crimes” at all but instead “rights”… according to Islamic law. But to do that means the dangeous political correctness that has prevented a worldwide brutally honest discussion as to the inherently evil “religion” that we know as Islam would have to be thrown by the wayside, and that’s not going to happen, because too many politicos and other prominent public figures have either have turned an ignorantly blind eye to the evils of the Islamic “faith”, and/or have a vested political interest in pandering to the Islamic community and assorted PC types both home and abroad who really believe Islam is a “religion of peace” – contra to extensive evidence that points in the opposite direction.

Maddening.

Andrew Klavan brings us another in his series of public-service educational videos, this time to let us know how we should behave when Muslims go nuts over a perceived slight and kill a bunch of people — how do we stop it and keep it from happening again?

The answer is simple, my friends: we give up our principles. Enjoy the lesson.

VIDEO: Pakistani actress rips mullah who tries to publicly shame her

This video has gone viral the last few days, so if you’ve already seen it, enjoy it all over again. For those of you, like me, who are just seeing the video today for the first time, hold on to your hats. Veena Malik, the Pakistani actress in the vid, only looks mild-mannered in the beginning. As the video goes on, you’ll see that she most definitely can handle her own against a dark ages mullah. Her “crime”? Appearing on the Indian version of “Big Brother” and not dressing and acting in away that would ‘honor Islam’. Click below to watch (via Jonah Goldberg by way of Hot Air):

Snippets from the transcript, provided by MEMRI TV:

Mufti Abdul Qavi: If she does not have pangs of conscience because of what she did, then I would tell her to awaken her conscience. No one in Pakistan can look at her pictures in the presence of their daughters. I don’t think that her son will like to look at his mother’s picture in the future, in her presence or in the presence of his father or brother.

Interviewer: Go ahead.

Veena Malik: Mufti Sahab, first, I would like to respond to all your questions. As far as Islamic religion is concerned – Islam is a vast religion. Islam also means that I am the sole provider for my five sisters and my brother, and I have paid for their education.

Also, as long as you are talking about Islam, let met tell you that you are not allowed to set eyes on me in my present condition. You should be punished in public, because charity begins at home. Clerics may look at a woman once, but if they look at her a second time, they must be punished. You deserve to be punished, because you are not allowed to look at me in this condition.

Secondly, if you want to do something for the glory of Islam, you have plenty of opportunities. What are the politicians doing? Bribery, robbery, theft, and killing in the name of Islam. There are many things to talk about. Why Veena Malik? Because Veena Malik is a woman? Because Veena Malik is a soft target for you? What has Veena Malik done? Did Veena Malki lip-lock? Did Veena Malik wear shorter clothes than what Pakistani actresses wore in India in the past? Why Veena Malik, Mufti Sahab?

There are many other things for you to deal with. There are Islamic clerics who rape the children they teach in their mosques, and so much more.

Pakistan is infamous for many reasons other than Veena Malik. Veena Malik is entertainment, and believe me, I have done 10,000 good deeds, and my people have not supported me in this. Since you have set up a court here, I demand that the court dispense justice. I am more angry with you people than you are with me. If I am held accountable by you, then you too must answer my questions.

Mufti Sahab, there are many things in your community that need to be rectified, so please correct them. Veena Malik and the entertainment industry are much further down on the list.

Make sure to read/watch the whole thing.

As I’ve written before, Islam’s women may very well be the ones who ultimately bring about the cultural change needed in Islamic countries that would prevent the attempts at public shamings and their barbaric treatment, but in order to do so, they would, in effect, have to turn millions against the radical “religion” of Islam itself – a tall order:

We can fight in the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan until the end of time, killing and capturing the bad guys day and night. But until there is a cultural change in Islamofascistic countries like Yemen and, ultimately, a rejection of Islam altogether, the brutality against and subjugation of Muslim women will continue. I’ve noted before that it may very well be Muslim women who are the key to this cultural shift as they are the ones who suffer the most from laws based on the Koran and, along with their children, stand to gain the most from reversing the centuries old cycle of “tolerated abuse” courtesy of Islamic law.

My personal belief is that Muslim women who are also Islamic have the most to gain by abandoning Islam altogether (as Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Dr. Wafa Sultan have done) rather than trying to simply “reform” it – because you can’t reform a religion whose “holy book” enshrines the enslavement of women and teaches believers to use whatever means necessary to make “infidels” submit – and if they don’t submit to Islam, the Koran advocates their murder.

And speaking of, guess what? Veena Malik has reportedly received death threats from, among others, members of the Taliban, for appearing on “Bigg Boss.”

Surprise, surprise. Not.

Please keep this woman in your thoughts and prayers.

What people value: compare and contrast

** Posted by Phineas

Some of the most profound lessons are taught through irony, that striking contrast between what we would expect to happen in a sequence of events and what really does happen. Last week, the Fogel family was nearly wiped out, parents and children –an infant!– slaughtered as they laid down for the evening by Muslim jihadists of the Palestinian Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades.

Then, yesterday, a Palestinian woman rushes to the gates of the village where the Fogels’ relatives were sitting shiva and begged for help to save her baby. Did the Israelis, still in mourning for the dead and still angry over the atrocity, do the predictable thing and turn her away?

No, in fact:

Just as IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz arrived in Neve Tzuf to offer his condolences, a Palestinian cab raced towards the community’s entrance. In it, soldiers and paramedics discovered a Palestinian woman in her 20s in advanced stages of labor and facing a life-threatening situation: The umbilical cord was wrapped around the young baby girl’s neck, endangering both her and her mother.

The quick action of settler paramedics and IDF troops deployed in the area saved the mother’s and baby’s life, prompting great excitement and emotions at the site where residents are still mourning the brutal death of five local family members.

And so a people whose culture values life –“l’chaim!” “To life!”– rush to save the life of a mother and child, even though they come from their enemies and even though they themselves are still reeling from what happened.

Meanwhile, a people whose culture values death over life pass out sweets to celebrate the successful murder of a mother and her children.

Quite a contrast.

What people hold sacred: compare and contrast — Updated

**Posted by Phineas

Five members of the Fogel family were slaughtered by Muslims waging jihad last week in the village of Itamar: Udi 36, the father; Ruth (35) the mother; and three of their children Yoav (11), Elad (4), and Hadas (3 months). All were stabbed or had their throats slit.

Above Yoav’s bed hung the following Hebrew prayer:

May it be Your will, L-rd G-d and G-d of our forefathers, that I love every one of Israel as myself, and to graciously perform the positive commandment of loving your neighbor as yourself.

And may it also be Your will, Lord G-d and G-d of my forefathers, that you cause the hearts of my friends and neighbors to love me fervently, and that I be accepted and desirable to everyone, and that I be loving and pleasant, and that I be gracious and merciful in the eyes of all who see me. As water reflects face to face, so the heart of man to man. And all for the sake of Heaven, to do Your will, Amen.

Compare that to one of the famous “verses of the sword” from the Qur’an, the sacred book of he who stabbed a three-month old girl twice through the heart:

But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

And before someone argues that the Qur’an is filled with all sorts of peaceful verses — I agree, it is. But then familiarize yourself with the doctrine of abrogation, in which chronologically later verses of the Qur’an supersede and invalidate those that came earlier. In this case, classical Islamic scholarship considers the verse cited above to have abrogated 124 peaceful verses. It is those later, non-abrogated verses that represent the current ethos of Islam, just as the prayer above little Yoav’s bed represents that of Judaism.

“But,” one might argue, “that verse specifies ‘pagans,” and the Fogels were Jews, ‘People of the Book.’ Where is the command to fight and kill Jews?”

Okay, let’s take one of the hadiths, the sayings of Muhammad, considered a source second only to the Qur’an and necessary to understanding that book. This is one of the most famous antisemitic hadiths, from the Sahih Muslim collection, one of the two most highly regarded collections of hadiths in Sunni Islam:

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.

In other words, the Day of Resurrection won’t come until Muslims fight and kill the Jews.

But the prayer hung above Yoav’s bed by his parents asked for the grace to love his neighbor, not to hate them and kill them.

The comparison is revealing.

UPDATE: Andy McCarthy has a must-read article today on the massacre of the Fogels — Why They Celebrate Murdering Children:

As the Israeli press reported, jubilant Muslims crowded Gaza’s streets, handing out candy and sweets in the wake of the murders. Jennifer Rubin notes that the outpouring of joy over the slitting of an infant’s throat was, according to one resident, “a natural response to the harm settlers inflict” on Palestinians.

It is a natural response, if you are a monster. If you have been reared in a culture that worships suicide bombers, that dehumanizes Jews as the children of monkeys and pigs, and that insists Israel is not merely the enemy but does not have a right to exist. And these positions, it bears emphasizing, do not represent some fringe Islam of al-Qaeda terrorists who have purportedly hijacked an otherwise peaceful religion. This is mainstream Islam, the sorts of things you would hear in a classroom at al-Azhar University or a television show on al-Jazeera — the place where, according to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, people turn for “real news,” the place where Muslim Brotherhood guru Yusuf Qaradawi lionizes suicide bombers in his popular weekly program, Sharia and Life.

McCarthy surveys the religious justification for terrorism in Islam and then tells the story of the Kaiser family, who in 1979 lost two children and a father to jihad-by-murder. Their killer, Samir Kuntar, was lionized as a hero by the Palestinians and Hizbullah on his release a few years ago.

And yet we’re the bigots when we draw the logical conclusion upon noting the common religious thread in atrocity after atrocity.

National Public Radio, or National Money-laundering Radio?

**Posted by Phineas

When James O’Keefe released his sting video of NPR executives trashing conservatives, Republicans, and Jews while currying favor with what they though were potential donors from a Muslim Brotherhood front group, he promised a follow up. I had a feeling he wasn’t just blowing smoke; a slow drip of explosive revelations is the style he honed while working under Andrew Breitbart.

But I never thought it would be this good. Offering to hide the source of a donation from the IRS?

In case you don’t want to watch the whole thing, here’s the key portion, via The Daily Caller:

New video released Thursday afternoon indicates National Public Radio intended to accept a $5 million donation from fictitious Muslim Brotherhood front group Muslim Education Action Center (MEAC) Trust – and that the publicly funded radio network might have helped MEAC make the donation anonymously to protect it from a federal government audit.

When a man posing as Ibrahim Kasaam asked, “It sounded like you were saying NPR would be able to shield us from a government audit, is that correct?” NPR’s senior director of institutional giving, Betsy Liley, responded, “I think that is the case, especially if you are anonymous. I can inquire about that.” According to conservative James O’Keefe, whose Project Veritas organization conducted the NPR sting organization, the man posing as Kasaam made two follow-up phone calls to Liley after their lunch.

Liley said a $5 million donation would amount to about “10 years of support.”

Kasaam follows up by asking: “The fact that NPR is not only a tax-exempt organization, but also receives direct contributions from the government — does that invite some sort of government oversight or government examination of contributions, et cetera?”

Liley answered: “They have audited our programs at times and, I think, as part of that, they can look at our audited financials. If you are concerned in any way about that, that’s one reason you might want to be an anonymous donor. And, we would certainly, if that was your interest, want to shield you from that.

Emphasis added.

Liley goes on to say the same anonymous-donor protection was afforded to universities and other donors, but, come on! There’s a difference between taking money from, say, Notre Dame and covering up a gift from a self-admitted front for the Ikhwan. You know, the organization whose motto is:

“Allah is our goal, the Prophet is our leader, the Quran is our constitution, the Jihad is our way, and the Death for Allah is our most exalted wish.”

But, don’t worry; NPR will make sure no one in the government knows the money came from the same group that founded Hamas, an organization designated as a terrorist organization by the Department of State.

Forget cutting their funding — NPR will be lucky if the FBI doesn’t show up with search warrants.

Jihadists and their supporters dominate DoJ terror prosecutions

**Posted by Phineas

Congressman Peter King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is opening hearings today on the threat of radicalization of American Muslims by jihadist groups. Naturally, the usual coalition of Islamist front groups and their tools on the Left have denounced these hearings as “un-American,” “McCarthyist,” and Islamophobic.

Yet, when one goes past the screams of outrageous outrage and looks at facts, one fact stands out: most terror convictions involve defendants waging jihad fi sabil Allah — “jihad for the sake of Allah:”

More than 80 percent of all convictions tied to international terrorist groups and homegrown terrorism since 9/11 involve defendants driven by a radical Islamist agenda, a review of Department of Justice statistics shows.

Though Muslims represent about 1 percent of the American population, they constitute defendants in 186 of the 228 cases DOJ lists.

On Thursday, the House Homeland Security Committee holds its first hearing into radicalization among Muslim Americans. Critics have taken issue with the focus on one religious minority, but the DOJ list shows that radical Islamists are disproportionately involved in terror-related crimes.

Al-Qaida is involved in the largest number of prosecutions, representing 30 percent of the 228 terror cases involving an identified group. Hizballah-affiliated defendants are involved in 10.5 percent of the cases and Hamas is part of 9 percent. Pakistani-based Lashkar-e-Tayyiba was involved in 6.5 percent of the cases.

The remainder involved the South Asian Tamil Tigers and Colombia’s FARC. The article’s author, the Investigative Project on Terrorism, goes on to break down the statistics by international versus domestic terror plots, and it covers significant cases not included in the Justice report. All in all, it’s an enlightening and a disturbing survey.

My own opinion is that these hearings can serve a useful purpose, because there is no doubt that Islamic-supremacist groups have targeted the United States and want to radicalize the Muslim population here. As former federal prosecutor Andy McCarthy details in his excellent “The Grand Jihad,” the Muslim Brotherhood operates here through fronts such as the Muslim Students Association, the Islamic Circle of North America, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, and others to spread a Salafist interpretation of Islam with the goal of replacing our constitutional government based on individual liberties with sharia law. Leading Brotherhood intellectual Sheikh Yusef al Qaradawi has called this “jihad by da’wa.” (Islamic proselytism. See also.)

The fact is that there is a continuing strong effort to radicalize Muslims in the United States to support jihad, whether that means traveling overseas to fight (as in Somalia), fighting here in America (as in Times Square), or through non-violent support. The Department of Justice statistics bear that out. While I’m disappointed Congressman King has left out important, knowledgeable witnesses such as Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch, and IPT’s Steve Emerson (especially since they could effectively challenge blatant apologists such as Congressman Keith Ellison), I do think these hearings can serve a valuable purpose by shedding light on efforts to radicalize Muslims in the United States. They will certainly be worth keeping an eye on.

LINKS: My blog-buddy Sister Toldjah launched a spirited defense of the hearings a couple of days ago. IPT’s Steve Emerson says the real hysteria-mongers are the Muslim-American groups attacking Congressman King. Oh, and by the way, the usual death threats from the Religion of Peace have made their appearance. An essay on “jihad fi sabil Allah.”
