Gwyneth Paltrow: useful idiot for Liberal Fascism

**Posted by Phineas

"Ready for dictatorship."

“Ready for dictatorship.”

So, yesterday President Obama screwed up traffic here in Los Angeles so he could attend a(nother) fund-raiser at the California ATM, hobnobbing over $1,000 a plate meals with the Hollywood glitterati  at the home of actress and Obama fan-girl Gwyneth Paltrow. As Politico reports, her introduction of the President was cringe-worthy on several levels:

Gwyneth Paltrow wants President Barack Obama to know: she’s just like everyone else.

She makes $16 million per movie, sure, but that doesn’t mean that she’s not worried about Obama getting equal pay legislation through Congress.

At a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee held at her house in Brentwood Thursday evening, she called the issue “very important to me as a working mother.”

In front of a crowd that included fellow actors Julia Roberts (who took her picture in front of the presidential limo on her way out) and Bradley Whitford (that’s Josh Lyman from “The West Wing”), Paltrow told Obama she is “one of your biggest fans, if not the biggest.”

Reminding Obama that she hosted an expat fundraiser for him in London when she was living there, Paltrow described Obama as a president who would be studied for generations, and a role model for everyone of this generation.

“It would be wonderful if we were able to give this man all of the power that he needs to pass the things that he needs to pass,” she told the crowd.

Like I said yesterday on Twitter:

Because we all know “working moms” who struggle with making at least $16,000,000 per year, live in huge mansions in Brentwood and Bel Air, and have to get by with only a few dozen maids, nannies, groundskeepers, and cooks. Not to mention personal assistants.

Life must be hell for poor Gwyneth.

But that was nothing compared to the second highlighted statement, in which the “working mother” wishes Obama had absolute power. She yearns not for a constitutional chief executive, whose job is to enforce the laws Congress passes in an evenhanded manner. Nope, what she wants is a king, a caliph, an emperor, a dictator… a fuhrer.

Yeah, I went there. I’m not accusing Paltrow of consciously (1) being a fascist, liberal or otherwise; I don’t believe she’s bright enough or cares to really understand or care about such things. But she makes it clear that fascist leadership, in which all power is vested in a Leader who embodies the will of the nation and knows what’s best for it, is what she wants. Democracy is just too messy, and there are too many unenlightened people pushing their own wrongheaded agendas, in spite of what Gwyneth knows to be right. And so we need to get rid of it and just give Obama all the power he needs, because Gwyneth is sure Barack will only do good with it, progressive superhero that he is.

No, she’s not a liberal fascist. She’s just a useful idiot. A beautiful, smiling, and vapid useful idiot.

Trouble is, there are so many like her in our cultural elites.

PS: Have a look at this photo of Paltrow staring worshipfully at the man who should have all the power he needs.

PPS: Oh, and here is how she finished her introduction of Him …er… him:‘Then turning over the microphone, she said, “you’re so handsome that I can’t speak properly.”  You may now barf.

PPPS: Speaking of liberal fascism, you need to read… well, “Liberal Fascism.” Trust me, it’s an eye-opener.

Cult of Personality Watch: US Embassy becomes Obama Embassy

**Posted by Phineas

Sure, all US embassies and consulates have portraits of the current president hanging in the offices; he is, after all, Head of State. But… Well… This is just a bit much:

Large tapestry portraits of President Barack Obama were unveiled for guests at the U.S. Embassy in London over the weekend.

The recently-installed, large-scale tapestry portraits were created by National Medal of Arts winner and renowned American painter, photographer Chuck Close.

Call me old-fashioned, but if you want a large piece of art decorating the entry to a United States embassy, the first thing visitors see, why not a work that reflects the history of the United States? Christy’s “Signing of the Constitution,” for example, to celebrate one of our seminal events, or Rockwell’s “Abraham Delivering the Gettysburg Address,” in honor of what many feel is the moment of our second Founding? Or, to borrow Rockwell again (1), why not showcase “Freedom of Speech,” that most American of values, which both embodies and guards the right of a free people to rule themselves? Instead we get giant portraits of one man?

All art is communication, after all, especially public art, and art displayed in an embassy should reflect the nation’s values, how it sees itself, what it holds dear, its spiritual center, its… Oh, wait. I get it.

In this case, I guess it reflects the government’s spiritual center.  smiley headbang wall

“I pledge allegiance to the United States of … President Obama”?

Just catching up on the news from the past couple of days after taking a bit of a break and I see that the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington provided some interesting news for commentary, as expected. reported over the weekend that at least one of the marchers at the DC event carried a flag not with the stars and stripes but with the stripes and … a photo of Obama (hat tip):

Pressure from offended veterans eventually motivated the Lake County Democratic Party to take down a flag over its headquarters in Florida that featured President Obama’s face in place of the field of stars. That flag resurfaced today at the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.

Obama flag

No way, no how.

I wish I could say I’m surprised at this, but I’m not. This is what happens when people stop looking at a President as a politician who works for us and start viewing him as their idol and god who we should “serve.” Even conservatives who greatly admire President Reagan and who would like nothing more than to see a modern-day version come onto the scene wouldn’t do something like this to the US flag, and if one was ever caught, others would surely come down on them just as people disapproved of this flag the first time around and then again this weekend. Sadly, the person flying it might even be an educator but then again that, too, wouldn’t be surprising, considering the various public school “Obama song”/praise incidents that have been reported on over the last several years. And let’s not forget the NC teacher who came down hard on one student, berating him in class for “disrespecting the President” because the student dared to criticize Obama, even telling him he could be arrested for speaking out against him. And then there was another NC teacher who criticized a student in front of her classmates because her parents supported John McCain for President. How’s that for public school “social studies 101”?

Liberals have gone bat sh*t crazy in this country, and unfortunately that extends even to the classroom. I wish I could say I thought that this past weekend’s celebration of the anniversary of the March on Washington was the only place that flag was being displayed nowadays, but I doubt it. Don’t be surprised if it ends up in the news again in the future as the result of being in a classroom or perhaps on the wall of an NEA lounge somewhere – or even another local Democrat party office, providing us yet again with another “teachable moment” in how some people, including educators, can take support of a politician way too far to the point they’ve lost all objectivity, and all touch with reality.  Pray for our young people.

Phineas Butts In: ST and I think alike, so one of us must be in trouble. ;) I have my own thoughts on the return of the Obama flag here.

Stupidity on steroids: Missouri NAACP prez says Obama rodeo clown act = “hate crime”

Good grief:

The head of the Missouri Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People said Thursday that a rodeo clown who donned a mask of President Obama at the Missouri State Fair had committed a hate crime.

“I think that a hate crime has occurred,” Mary Ratliff told KXNT Radio in Las Vegas on Thursday. “I think a hate crime occurs when you use a person’s race to depict who they are and to make degrading comments, gestures, et cetera, against them.”

The rodeo clown donned the Obama mask before being chased around by bulls in a pen, according to reports. The clown was introduced by an announcer who asked the audience if they wanted to see “Obama run down by a bull.” The Missouri State Fair on Monday barred the clown from performing at the fair.

Ratliff said that her organization is asking the Department of Justice to conduct an investigation into the incident, adding that it is an “outrage” that taxpayer dollars were used to disrespect the president.

“We are taxpayers in the state of Missouri,” Ratliff said. “And when taxpayer money is utilized to discredit and be disrespectful to our president, whether he be black, white, Hispanic, Latina… it is an outrage.”

Ratliff has also asked the Secret Service to investigate the incident.

You have got to be freaking kidding me.  Poking fun at the President of the United States is a “hate crime” worthy of DOJ/Secret Service “investigation” because he happens to be black? Is this fascist w/ the Missouri state NAACP aware of the hundreds, if not thousands, of times some variation of the form of President Bush was “disrespected” by anti-war protesters and the like during his 8 years as President and  that no figure of prominence on the right ever called for the powers that be to “investigate” for “hate crimes” violations on the basis of “race”? Furthermore, even if a “joke” of this nature could be considered in poor taste, does it REALLY rise to the level of a “hate crime”??

They told me that if I voted for Mitt Romney that  dissent would no longer be patriotic, and they were right! *Shaking my head. *

PS: Loved Rep. Steve King’s response to this:

Dissent is patriotic

… but only if you’re a Democrat.

Is being telegenic the only remaining qualification for high office?

Cory Booker is Newark, New Jersey’s, “rising star” mayor. He’s young, smart, personable, has a great online presence, and even rescues people from burning buildings.

Now he’s running for the federal Senate seat that came open when Frank Lautenberg died and, this being New Jersey, he’s almost certain to win. At The Corner, Jim Geraghty looks at Booker’s record in office and finds it awfully thin. And that’s being charitable:

Newark is pretty much the same economically-struggling city it was when he started; as the New York Times noticed, “his constituents do not need to be reminded that six years after the mayor came into office vowing to make Newark a “model of urban transformation,” their city remains an emblem of poverty… A growing number of Newarkers complain that he has proved to be a better marketer than mayor, who shines in the spotlight but shows little interest in the less-glamorous work of what it takes to run a city.”

Read the rest to see a list of Mayor Booker’s “accomplishments.”

So here we have another wildly hyped media-darling candidate who seems to be “all sizzle and no steak” seeking higher office based on… what? Being telegenic? Giving good sound bites? Being hyperactive on Twitter? Fixing the city’s budget and reducing crime seems so pedestrian by comparison.

Remind anyone of a certain president we all know?

To be honest, I find this “election by media mania” to be depressing. If you want higher office, you should prove yourself in lower ones, first, to show people what you can do. City council, state legislator, the mayor’s office — as long as you actually demonstrate competence, not just charisma. The Romans called it the “cursus honorum” — the course of honors. It was the path an ambitious Roman would follow from the lowest magistracies to the highest, putting in the needed time and gaining experience along the way.

Nowadays, you just need a web site and some starry-eyed fans.

Disturbing: Latest Newsweek cover features Obama w/ the caption: “Second Coming”

Wow, Newsweek sure isn’t doing themselves – nor their fellow cultish Obama worshippers – any favors by continuing to expose (collectively) their disturbing tendency to view our celebrity President as though he is God.

Newsweek's Obama cover

‘Second Coming’? I don’t think so.

Via Twitchy Team, which writes:

First the angel Obama-el got his gay-lo from Newsweek, and now, in the creepy 2013 Inauguration issue, he’s the second coming.

Framing President Obama as our lord and savior isn’t surprising. We’re more shocked by the news that Newsweek still has covers after killing its print publication. But that doesn’t make it any less creepy and cult-like.

Like I’ve said before, to many liberals government=God, and via extension a “hip” and “cool” Democrat President like Barack Obama (and Bill Clinton fit the mold, also) is their Lord and Savior and “He” is righteous and mighty and must be obeyed:

Then again, what do you expect from people who by and large view government aka Uncle Sam as God and your private religious beliefs that are supposed to be guaranteed under the US Constitution as secondary to what the their government god mandates?

Of course, even though Clinton is like Obama in this regard, Obama’s taken it several steps further. Both he and his wife made sure to paint him in a “God-like” light (“planet begins to heal“, “Obama is the only one who can heal this nation and fix our souls“) during his first campaign for President, and it’s a meme they have continued to operate under since then. Why not? It’s worked so well for them to this point. Why stop a “good” thing, especially when it helps get you elected to not just one term in the White House but two?

Our culture continues to rot from the inside out, and this Newsweek cover is just one of many real-time examples of the rot in progress. No person, no media outlet, no one at all should ever view a public servant as God or anything similar. Not even we Reagan afficionados view “The Gipper” in the mindless, bot-like way so many Obama fanatics look at “The One.” It’s a deeply disturbing mindset, and one that needs to be called out and called out loudly whenever the opportunity presents itself. Now is one of those times.

Typical: WH tweets photo of Obama on the Rosa Parks bus to honor Rosa Parks

It’s always about him, isn’t it?

Via, which notes this isn’t the first time the Obama administration has tried to turn historical events into an Obama praise-fest:

Just when you think President Obama’s impossibly large ego can’t grow further, he makes it happen!

President Obama loves to insert himself in other people’s biographies. He also loves to honor people, most recently Neil Armstrong and Vice President Biden, with pictures of himself. All. About. Him. His laser-like focus never wavers from his own image.

And the narcissism continues: To honor the 57th anniversary of the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus, President Obama paid homage with a picture of himself.

Ugh! Four more years of this garbage. Give me strength! o=>

I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of Obama … huh?? Again???

**Posted by Phineas

I thought it was pretty creepy the first time, but now you can buy your very own Barack Obama flag from Barack Obama himself!

The Great Banner of Dear Leader?

And this can be yours for only $35!

L’Etat c’est Obama?

Jim Geraghty has sometimes called Obama “Our Munificent Sun-King.” Whoever knew Obama would agree?

Most of us.

The Obama Cult of Personality at the DNC Charlotte

**Posted by Phineas

Okay, so we’ve known for years that a lot of people on the Left regarded Obama as someone to revere, or even an enlightened being. But, um… I’d say this is going a bit far, even for Obamabots:

photo (13)

That’s not from the Obama campaign, surprisingly enough, but from a calendar being sold by an independent vendor at the Democratic convention in Charlotte.

You can see some more at Slate.

UPDATE: Heh. The Weekly Standard calls this being a “Virgin Birther.
