#Trayvon fallout: If “racial profiling” is so wrong, why do liberals tolerate @RevJJackson?

Rev. Jackson in 1993:

“There is nothing more painful to me … than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery, then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.”

He’s the most prominent black “leader” to engage in racial profiling, but he’s not the only one. Columnist Walter Williams wrote yesterday:

Twelve years ago, a black Washington, D.C., commissioner warned cabbies, most of whom were black, against picking up dangerous-looking passengers. She described “dangerous-looking” as a “young black guy … with shirttail hanging down longer than his coat, baggy pants, unlaced tennis shoes.” She also warned cabbies to stay away from low-income black neighborhoods. Did that make the D.C. commissioner a racist?

n some cities, such as St. Louis, black pizza deliverers have complained about having to deliver pizzas to certain black neighborhoods, including neighborhoods in which they live. Are they racists?

The former Charleston, S.C., black chief of police, Reuben Greenberg, said the problem facing black America is not racial profiling. He said, “The greatest problem in the black community is the tolerance for high levels of criminality.” Former Los Angeles black police Chief Bernard Parks, defending racial profiling, said: “It’s not the fault of the police when they stop minority males or put them in jail. It’s the fault of the minority males for committing the crime. In my mind, it is not a great revelation that if officers are looking for criminal activity, they’re going to look at the kind of people who are listed on crime reports.” Are former police Chiefs Greenberg and Parks racist?

Fast forward to today, where The Race Hustlers of America (TM) are engaged inciting a public lynching of George Zimmerman in part because they say he “racially profiled” Trayvon Martin.  Well, I suspect he “profiled” Martin more than “racially profiled” – considering the crime wave that had hit the Sanford neighborhood he lived in to the degree the neighborhood started a watch program last September:

Conversations with several residents, however, suggest that Zimmerman’s calls reflect a wider feeling of concern and distrust in the community. For years, Twin Lakes residents had been on edge—demonstrated by their decision last September to start a neighborhood-watch organization, which was initiated by Zimmerman himself. The burglary of Olivia Bertalan’s home was just one of at least eight reported over the previous 14 months—several of which, neighbors said, involved young black men. On Feb. 26, the odds were stacked against Martin: he was a young black man in a neighborhood that was feeling besieged by crime and blaming it—fairly or not—on people who looked like him.

Three weeks before Martin’s death another Twin Lakes resident arrived home to discover a kitchen window open and a laptop and gold necklaces missing. Two witnesses said they saw a young black man standing nearby, but they did not see the man break into the home, according to a police report. One witness said he believed it was the same man who had stolen his bike. The next day officers responding to a call confronted three black men and one white man on bikes near the neighborhood. The same witnesses identified one of the men as the same man they saw near the burglarized home. The officers found the laptop in the man’s backpack.

Last July a rental car was stolen from one townhome along with the car keys, which were inside on a dining room table. The resident awoke in the morning to discover her sliding glass door open. The car was eventually found abandoned. In August a PlayStation and videogames were stolen from another townhome. In September someone vandalized a townhome under construction. In December someone broke into a foreclosed townhome, stopped up a toilet and started the water running. According to a police report, the water flooded the bedroom and caused drywall in the garage to collapse.

During the months before he shot Martin, Zimmerman called police about once a month, said Kim Cannaday, spokeswoman for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. He called about suspicious-looking people in the neighborhood, many whom, like Martin, he identified as black. Zimmerman also called to report a neighbor’s garage door open and children playing in the street, asking that he remain anonymous so as not to offend other neighbors.

There have been 8 burglaries and 3 simple assaults reported in the neighborhood since January.  But yet liberals and their race hustler pals would have you believe that George Zimmerman had none of that in mind when he called 911 to report someone who he thought was suspicious walking around in the neighborhood at night.

The renewed debate on profiling in general, with a heavy emphasis on the “racial” component, has opportunistic liberals using the unfortunate killing of a teenager to stridently argue against profiling on the basis that people “stereotype” people who are different from them and target them on that basis and nothing else (whereas in the case of Zimmerman, the motivation to call 911 – in my view – stemmed from concern over the increase in crime in the neighborhood).  While it’s true that people do stereotype – and black citizens in this country do that just as much as anyone else – there is a clear difference in “stereotyping” than “profiling.”

For example, my neighborhood is mostly quiet but has had issues with suspicious youths being spotted behind town-homes, appearing to “case” the homes – a fact pointed out in HOA emails/newsletters.  I reported activity behind the building in front of mine after seeing a group of males, some white, some Hispanic, some black appear to be canvassing townhome units late one afternoon.  There was no reason for them to be behind those units, certainly not looking onto people’s back porches.  I called the cops.

In another incident, it was after dark and I had come  home, went upstairs to the bedroom to get ready to change clothes and get comfortable for the night – as I prepared to close my bedroom blinds, I noticed a suspicious figure (in a hoodie, I should note) literally sitting behind my house about 15 feet away from the back door.  I could see the back area because I keep my back porch lights on at night, as the HOA has advised us to do so we can spot activity if we’re paying attention. Shortly after I saw him, another person came out from behind the bushes of my neighbor’s house and joined him.  My neighbor doesn’t keep her back porch light on so all I saw of him was that he was wearing what appeared to be a gray or white Tshirt and dark pants.  There was no reason for them to be back there.  I live in the back of the development. It is a dead end.  Neither of these two “gentleman” lived in this building.  One of them spotted me looking out the window and afterwards they both walked away towards a nearby creek.  I called the police.

There was another time I called the police but I honestly can’t remember what it was about.  Maybe a noise issue the first year I lived here.

For the record, liberals who are keeping count, that is THREE TIMES I have called the police in the 6 years I have lived here.  That averages half a call a  year. Sue me. RAAAAAACISM. Or something.  Whatever.

And yet there are other times young men of all colors have walked around in this neighborhood and I did not feel remotely compelled to call 911.   It’s called “gut instinct.” Sometimes it’s right. Sometimes it is not.  But it is crucial to your well being.

This is what is referred to as “erring on the side of caution.” The difference between what I’ve done and what George Zimmerman did the night of February 26th was he got out on foot to find where Trayvon Martin went – and in my opinion he did so not to confront, but to keep track of him so he could tell the police where Trayvon was when they (the police) got there (Zimmerman giving 911 detailed info about the neighborhood and asking them to have police call HIM when they arrived in the neighborhood is what drives me to think that).  When you have issues with suspicious activity and crime in your neighborhood, you are a little more aware of what’s going on and when something seems off you do what any HUMAN BEING would do and call 911.

Keep in mind that liberals aren’t just spinning their tops over the fact that George Zimmerman isn’t behind bars, they think it’s wrong – period FULL STOP – that he even called 911 in the first place.  “Trayvon Martin was racially profiled and then murdered and all he was armed with was bag of Skittles and an Arizona Iced Tea!!” they’ll yell. Hindsight is 20/20, isn’t it? Had Trayvon Martin been in the act of breaking into a home and George Zimmerman been able to tell police exactly where Martin was, that neighborhood would be hailing Zimmerman as a hero and there would be NO discussion of whether or not he “racially profiled” Trayvon Martin.

We’ll never know if Trayvon Martin really was “acting like he was on drugs” the night he was killed.  According to George Zimmerman’s 911 call, Martin was.  Zimmerman also said it looked like Martin was “looking into homes.” We’ll never know if that’s true, either.  But consider this: In all the times Zimmerman called 911 to report suspicious activity (re: persons of all “races”), he had plenty of opportunities to get out and mow someone down if that’s the kind of person he was (which is what liberals, race hustlers, the national mainstream media, and the Martin family attorneys want you to think).  With that in mind, why “murder Trayvon in cold blood”, as he has been accused? Someone with an itchy of a trigger finger (something else The Usual Suspects want you to believe about George Zimmerman) would have struck way before last month – in my opinion.

It should also be noted that the night Trayvon Martin was killed, it was dark and when asked on the 911 call as to the race of the “suspicious person”, Zimmerman wasn’t sure – he said something to the effect of “I think he’s black.” He didn’t confirm he was black until Martin allegedly walked towards his SUV.

And just think, had Zimmerman also been black, we wouldn’t be talking about this right now, which is another tragedy in all this.  Black on black violence in America is epidemic, in contrast to “hate crimes” (something ELSE George Zimmerman has been accused of), and that should be where the national discussion is focused – but the only people allowed to discuss it without being called “racists” are the very race pimps (Jackson, Sharpton, numerous black liberal politicos) who keep the violence going by pointing fingers in the wrong directions as to what the real problems are (let’s start with single parent families, for starters). It’s a vicious cycle, and one that won’t be reversed until the voices of people who REALLY care about the issues facing black youths drown out the Sharptons and Jacksons of this world, people who – in concert with pandering liberal politicos across America –  have done far more damage to the black community in the last 50+ years than the “racists/Uncle Toms” they routinely shift the blame onto.

Teachable Moment: @RepBobbyRush, other legislators, wear #Trayvon hoodies

No, this isn’t a nightmare. It’s reality – and it happened this morning (via):

On the floor of the House this morning, Rep. Bobby Rush’s effort to call attention to the death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin turned into a contest of wills between the Illinois Democrat and the presiding officer because Rush donned a hoodie while speaking.

It’s against the rules to wear hats in the chamber when the House is in session. But Rush slipped a hood over his head in an symbolic act of solidarity with Martin’s family and supporters, who say the 17-year-old African-American was the victim of racial profiling by a neighborhood watch volunteer who shot him on Feb. 26.

The scene today on the House floor, which you also can see thanks to this clip at C-SPAN.org:

As Rush began to speak to the House, he removed a suit jacket to reveal that underneath he was wearing a hooded jacket.

“Racial profiling has to stop,” he said. “Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum.” It was then that Rush pulled the hood over his head and Rep. Gregg Harper, R-Miss., who was in the presiding chair, tried to stop him.

Bang, bang, bang went the gavel. “The member will suspend!” Harper said several times.

Meanwhile, Rush turned to quotes from the Bible. It teaches us, he said in a rising voice, “to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

“The spirit of the Lord is upon because he has anointed me to proclaim the good news!” Rush continued.

Then, as he said “may God bless Trayvon Martin’s soul, his family,” Harper declared that Rush was no longer recognized and the lawmaker’s microphone went off. Harper then reminded lawmakers of the rule about hats.

He was then escorted off the House floor by a rep. from the Sergeant at Arms office.

Though Rep. Rush is the most prominent elected official to date who has worn a hoodie to “the office” while trying to conduct official business, sadly he’s not the only one.  From WHDH – Boston:

BOSTON (WHDH) — Local lawmakers have joined the calls for justice, wearing hoodies similar to Trayvon Martin’s.

From Beacon Hill to Capitol Hill, lawmakers are showing up to work wearing hoodies to show solidarity with supporters of Trayvon Martin.

The African American teenager was shot to death in Florida last month by George Zimmerman, a volunteer neighborhood watchman, who claims self defense.

Zimmerman hasn’t been charged with anything by police, touching off a national outcry over racial profiling.

State Representative Cheryl Coakley-Rivera of Springfield said about a dozen of her colleagues wore hoodies on Wednesday.

“I called for Reps. to join me with a hoodie on, obviously to call for justice for Trayvon and his family, and to bring awareness to racial stereotyping that caused Trayvon to be murdered,” State Rep. Coakley-Rivera said.

And in New York state:

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Six New York state senators wore “hoodies” in the staid, 235-year-old Capitol chamber to express their outrage at the deadly shooting of a black youth in Florida that they blame on public attitudes born in New York City.

The Democrats from the city, four of them black and two white, wore their gray and blue suit jackets over their hoodies, remaining in conformance with the Senate rules in the 62-seat chamber. There was no comment from the Republican majority.

“It was born here in New York City and now it has cascaded all the way down to the southern coast of Florida,” said Sen. Eric Adams, a Democrat and former sergeant with the New York City Police Department. “The stop-and-frisk policy gave birth not only to police officers believing that a person of color is automatically a criminal, now it has grown into the civilian patrol units.”

There are photos of the various legislators in their hoodies at all the links listed above.

The most troubling hoodie photo I’ve seen today, however, comes not from state legislatures and the US House but instead what I presume is a school classroom.  It was Tweeted earlier today, and the vague description was “The 2nd graders tribute to #trayvon … Hoodies, Ice tea, skittles.”

2nd graders wear hoodies, hold up Skittles & iced tea in 'celebration' of the life of Trayvon Martin.

I don’t know the name of the school. Frankly, I don’t want to know. My disgust at this happening caught the attention of popular liberal “blogger” tbogg, who responded:

Such New Tone-y goodness …

Anyway, regarding Rep. Rush and the other liberal elected officials/nitwits currently tapdancing on the grave of a dead Florida teenager for shameless political gain, these episodes are what I would call a “teachable moment” for America. Instead of calling for cooler heads to prevail, and demanding/initiating civil but spirited discussion about the REAL crime epidemic in America – black on black violence – some elected officials that may represent you and/or I decided instead to engage in childish grandstanding and stunt playing all under the pretense of doing “the business of the people.” And just think, Rep. Rush, a former Black Panther himself, could have used the opportunity on the floor of the US House to loudly denounce and condemn the actions of the New Black Panthers, who have put a $10,000 bounty on George Zimmerman’s head.

But no. I almost forgot that candid debates about crime and race in America (including “racial profiling”), where we could work together to find real, lasting solutions that would benefit ALL races, isn’t what this is about, anyway. My bad. 8-|

Update – 8:29 PM: St. Paul council members wear hoodies in support of Trayvon Martin

CONFIRMED: Actor Samuel L. Jackson really IS an idiot

Not that we didn’t know this already, but still … Via Politico:

Actor Samuel L. Jackson put politics aside when casting his vote for Barack Obama in 2008 and made his decision based on race.

“I voted for Barack because he was black. ’Cuz that’s why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them,” the actor recently told Ebony magazine via Page Six. “That’s American politics, pure and simple. [Obama’s] message didn’t mean [bleep] to me.”

“I just hoped he would do some of what he said he was gonna do,” Jackson said. “I know politicians say [bleep]; they lie. ’Cuz they want to get elected.”

Dropping the N-word many times, Jackson added, “When it comes down to it, they wouldn’t have elected a [bleep]. Because, what’s a [bleep]? A [bleep] is scary. Obama ain’t scary at all. [Bleeps] don’t have beers at the White House. [Bleeps] don’t let some white dude, while you in the middle of a speech, call [him] a liar. A [bleep] would have stopped the meeting right there and said, ‘Who the [bleep] said that?’ I hope Obama gets scary in the next four years, ’cuz he ain’t gotta worry about getting re-elected.”

In a video interview from September 2008, Jackson insisted he was not voting for Barack Obama “just because he was black” but more so for Obama’s so-called “change” message:

Mediapart: Samuel L. Jackson on Barack Obama by Mediapart

That video in and of itself provides Jackson with yet another award-caliber acting performance, especially considering his recent admission to Ebony Magazine, which is read by millions of black people across America.    What a role model for empowering black people everywhere.  Not.

Any more questions?

Profiles in how black conservatives are treated by “tolerant” black liberals

We all know black conservatives have it worse than most other conservatives when it comes to how they are treated by the more militant members of the political opposition – especially by black liberals. Stray from the group-think mentality even just a little bit, and all of a sudden you’re an “Oreo” or an “Uncle Tom” or a “traitor to your race”, etc. It’s disgusting, but unfortunately it’s also tolerated by white liberals because they’re so desperate to retain their hold on the black vote.

With that in mind, read this post and watch the accompanying video about black conservative Charlotte Bergman, a candidate for Congressional office in Tennessee’s 9th District (a “safe” Democrate district for decades) who gets treated like garbage by a black radio host who goes so far as to tell her he doesn’t want her to shake his hand because he’s afraid the “whiteness” will rub off on him.

Let’s just imagine for five seconds this were a white conservative using that kind of humiliating rhetoric against Bergmann. Yeah, I know.

Her response, on Facebook:

Is this the way many black women are treated in Memphis, throughout our nation? Could this be the reason there is a break down in many of the black families whose young people give up and end up in jail, in gangs, on drugs and eventually hardened enough to murder another human being?

Can we wonder why 42% of our young give up on school and on their futures?

I think we are now looking at the core of the problem. We are looking at abuse, not in the confines of a home, but in the confines of a small studio. A huge black man intimidating a woman who loves her community and only wanted to have a chance to speak to that community and to provide hope for a better life.

According to The Blaze, Bergmann has been invited to CPAC to talk about her experience. Good for her. If she goes, I hope she uses the opportunity to talk about her platform, which sounds pretty darned good to me.

And here they say it’s the conservatives who are “intolerant” of differing opinions?? Now, I’m sure the Rev. Al and NOW will be all over this one in condemnation of Thaddeus Matthews’ despicable treatment of Bergmann. Uh huh.

Stuck On Stupid Watch: Rep. Jackson Lee says Newt using racist “code words”

Someone buy this woman a big giant CLUE. Please:

[CNN’s MARTIN BASHIR]: Let me play something that you said about the current GOP debate on the floor of the house on Wednesday. Just listen. I think what you said and what I was hoping to run is we find candidates like Newt Gingrich who simply want to throw fuel and matches on fire to develop sort of an explosiveness in this country that is unnecessary. To suggest that president Obama is the food stamp president has underlying suggestions. What did you mean by underlying suggestions?

LEE: These are code words. It’s inappropriate.

BASHIR: Did you mean racist?

LEE: Let me say that the code words, as far as I’m concerned words that generate and signify race. Comments made by someone other than the president when he was a candidate caused him to make a significant speech on race to say race is a factor in the United States, but I work and will represent all people. Here we have Newt Gingrich, taking the opposite road, if you will. It’s I will use race to divide. I will call the president the food stamp president not knowing that food stamps are utilized by our soldiers, utilized by Kau Kaig caucasians more than African- Americans. Telling the us a janitor who makes $37,000 would be in a better position to give his job up so that the children of the poor in New York, I think he used the example, the school district Latino and African-American can pick up a broom and work. We know those children should have an opportunity to be an astronaut, scientist. we’re not against work. these children want work. They are fighting for summer jobs. That’s a code word to, if you will, portray poor children and poor school districts that they have seen no one work legitimately. That they don’t have a work ethic and these janitors are overpaid unionized workers who don’t have family and not making $37,000 a year. I think Mr. Newt Gingrich should be ashamed of himself and we should not want to win at any cost. Let’s bring the country together. Let’s not destroy Mr. Obama. Let’s talk about helping the American people.

What a complete idiot! It’s a shame so many Democrats are not only stuck on stupid in this country, but they’re also stuck on race … and that only gets amplified in an election year, especially an election year where they are extraordinarily desperate. I think it says more about Jackson Lee and other Democrats that think “food stamps” is a “code word” for “racism” and “black people” than it does someone like Newt speaking with brutal honesty about the situation the nation’s poor – no matter their color – find themselves in today as a result of, in large part, decades of disastrous, devastating Democrat policies -including ones put forth by President Obama – that have kept generations poor people in the poorhouse.

BTW, Bashir – who is supposedly an “anchor” at MSNBC, really isn’t much better than Jackson Lee when it comes to beliefs about Newt Gingrich. The supposedly “non-partisan” journalist weighed in here on Gingrich’s epic takedown of CNN’s John King at last night’s debate, and – unsurprisingly – believes Newt is a “hypocrite” on “poisonous rhetoric” in politics.

Of course, he would never have thought to ask Jackson Lee about her own poisonous rhetoric, would he? Heavens, no. That doesn’t fit the “established narrative” about “racist” Republicans.

Move along here, nothing to see …

Samuel L. Jackson pulls a Morgan Freeman – and Rep. Allen West goes off

I love, love, love, love this story!

Jackson recently joined his Hollywood colleague Morgan Freeman in calling members of the tea party racist.

“I think everything right now is geared toward getting that guy out of office, whatever that means,” Jackson told New York Magazine. “It’s not politics. It is not economics. It all boils down to pretty much to race. It is a shame.”

[On Fox News today] Allen, the only Republican member of the Congressional Black Caucus and a tea party favorite, blasted the actor’s comments and accused him of losing sight of more important issues like the high jobless rate among the country’s African-American community.

“Samuel L. Jackson, I guess, disregards the 16.7 percent unemployment rate in the black community, a 20 percent unemployment rate for black adult males and a 45-46 percent unemployment for black teenagers,” the Florida Republican said. “I think the racism that he is talking about is coming out of the White House and this administration.”

Ouch.  That must be what they mean when they say “the truth hurts.”

West warned Jackson against using the tea party movement as a “scapegoat,” insisting that conservatives are trying to fix the economy and turn around the unemployment numbers in the black community.

The perfect example? Herman Cain.

West said the Republican presidential candidate “negates” the recent comments by Jackson and Freeman.

How dare West let facts get in the way of a good ol’ fashioned ill-informed “rant”??  Would love to see him debate Jackson or Freeman any day of the week.  Wouldn’t be a fair fight, tho … for Jackson and Freeman.  As the saying goes, “Never show up for a battle of wits unarmed” …

Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee: conservative bloggers should “shut up” and “buy American” should be “buy African-American”

**Posted by Phineas

I’m glad to see she’s against playing racial politics:

While speaking with Tavis Smiley of PBS, Texas Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee said conservative bloggers should “shut up” and “stop playing racial politics.”

This from a member of the caucus that does little else but play the race card.

Seconds later, Jackson Lee went on to say that buy American should be “buy African American.”

She also said that if Obama’s jobs bill is passed, that contractors who “do not look like” her need to make sure that if they get federal money, their workforce “better be reflective of those suffering double-digit unemployment.”

“I don’t consider it discrimination, I don’t consider it affirmative action,” she added.

No, it’s just a bit of ethnic strong-arming. “Nice business you have there. It’d be a shame if something happened to it.”

Roger L. Simon is right: the Congressional Black Caucus should be disbanded. Far from fighting racism, they exploit it for personal gain and in the process harm the very constituency they claim to serve. (Although in Jackson-Lee’s case, I doubt she’s smart enough to know what she’s doing.)

By the way, Sheila, this conservative blogger does not plan to shut up. But you can take your racial grievance pandering and shove it.

Rep. Waters on Obama: “I think he just got a little bit off the teleprompter”

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) said President Obama got carried away in an address to a Congressional Black Caucus dinner where he said supporters should “stop complaining” and start fighting.

“I think [Obama] got carried away. He got fired up,” Waters said Monday in an interview with MSNBC. Obama “got off script and got a little bit beside himself, but I certainly don’t believe that he thinks the Congressional Black Caucus is sitting around in house slippers and bed slippers and whatever those things are — I don’t own them and I don’t understand the image that was described there.”

Waters added that Obama just went off his planned remarks in his speech.

“I think he just got a little bit off the teleprompter,” Waters said.

Waters’s comments were in reference to a speech Obama gave to the CBC on Saturday, where he told the crowd to “take off your bedroom slippers. Put on your marching shoes,” and to “shake it off. Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying.”

Great advice! Too bad our Juvenile in Chief won’t take his own advice, though …

Dear Morgan Freeman: Please bite me. Sincerely, (raci)ST

In re: this:

During an interview that airs Friday, CNN’s Piers Morgan asked the actor, “Has Obama helped the process of eradicating racism or has it, in a strange way, made it worse?”

“Made it worse. Made it worse,” Freeman replied. “The tea partiers who are controlling the Republican party … their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term. What underlines that? Screw the country. We’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here.”

On the strength of the tea party, he said: “It just shows the weak, dark, underside of America. We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are.”

Here’s video of Freeman’s remarks:

Hmmm. You know what I think would make America a better place? If ignorant, self-important left-wing nitwits would educate themselves beyond what the liberal MSM tells them to think. Once again, we have a case where a public figure in a position of great influence has taken the biased, tainted words and spin of ABC/CBS/NBC, black Democrat politicos and activists – and perhaps liberal blogs, too – and has mindlessly regurgitated their talking points as if to imply that he actually knows what he’s talking about.

Since he believes the Tea Party (and all conservatives for that matter) are so “racist”, I wonder if he views the black conservatives, especially those who have made their voices known since the election of Barack Obama to the presidency, to be “Uncle Toms” our “house slaves” like Harry Belafonte does? If he’s so concerned about race relations, why not stand up for the brave black conservatives who are under constant attacks from black liberals for “straying off the liberal plantation”? I wonder if this Hollywood pseudo-elitist has ever stopped to think for half a second about how racist, anti-America tripe from Obama’s longtime “spiritual mentor” has negatively impacted race relations in this country, how black Democrats and their asinine characterization of any and all opposition to this President as “racism” have set back race relations in this country, and how this President himself falsely classifying “Tea Party elements” as “racist” has not moved race relations forward in a way that “the enlightened class” told us this “post-racial” President would?

Not to mention how all of the bogus accusations mentioned above have devastatingly chilling effects on free speech, causing some people to fear speaking out against this administration’s policies for fear of the dreaded false accusation of racism?

To the Morgan Freemans of the world: THAT is what this country is supposed to be so much better than. Attempting to intimidate the political opposition into silence based on explosive false allegations that they are based on nothing more than “not liking the black man” is so far removed from everything this country is supposed to be about that I would think it would be obvious, especially to people who are supposed to be so much more “elevated” in status than I am. That is what the so-called “smart ones” should be preaching against. But no, they don’t. Because it’s so much better to buy wholesale into phony popular myths about a particular group of people rather than to actually think for yourself.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. And bigotry is a terrible thing in which to be engaged, especially when the bigots themselves are lodging false accusations of bigotry against others. Maybe one day Morgan Freeman and other Hollyweirdos will understand that. But I won’t hold my breath. Nor should you.

Update – 11:49 AM: My intrepid readers have pointed to this 2005 interview clip of Morgan Freeman from 60 Minutes, in which he said the best way to deal with the racism issue is to “stop talking about it.” Wonder what happened to that guy?

The Democratic Party: the party of class and race war?

**Posted by Phineas

I want you to look at two videos, both from Naked Emperor News (1), that illustrate the intellectual bankruptcy and political desperation of what passes for leadership in the modern Democratic Party. Not the average, working- and middle-class rank and file member who’s been a lifetime registered Democrat out of habit, but the career leftist pols who’ve risen to the top thanks to a pernicious combination of seniority and safe districts.

First we have Nancy Pelosi (whose San Francisco idol was avowed Stalinist Harry Bridges) offering an unusual motive on the part of those who oppose economic redistribution and advocate lower taxes: they’re the filthy rich who want immortality!

(via Pirate’s Cove)

Okay, okay. So, she’s talking about “immortality” through getting buildings named after them. It’s still bunkum. Not only are the most vociferous advocates of federal restraint and tax reform not among the filthy rich (2), but, in my experience, most of the money that buys names on buildings comes from rich liberal donors. And what about all the wealthy liberals just screaming for higher taxes, such as Warren Buffet or Stephen King? Are they conspiring for immortality at the expense of the poor and downtrodden, too, Nancy? Do all wealthy people look alike to you?

Oh, and while we’re at it, how goes your own search for life eternal? I mean, you are worth $35 million, after all…

Even more bizarre, however, is her attack on those opposed to raising the minimum wage: it’s all a conspiracy meant to make people dependent on private credit companies and lenders!! Seriously, Nancy? Are you actually arguing that, if we only kept making the minimum wage higher, people wouldn’t need to use credit cards or take out a loan to buy a car? Just how high a “minimum wage” do you envision, O Former Speaker, and what level of taxation do you think would be needed to support it?

Just how much of your $35 million are you willing to give up to save the counter-person at McDonald’s from the evils of the private credit market?

Ignore the fact that a rising minimum wage destroys jobs, this is utterly hypocritical class warfare and pathetic demagoguery that demonizes people who are successful or who are simply concerned about the self-destructive fiscal path this country is on.

But wait! It gets worse!

Earlier this summer, we heard Democratic National Committee Chairwoman (3) Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) claim that Republicans wanted to take America back to the era of Jim Crow. Debbie had to walk that back under fire, but the Congressional Black Caucus has decided that the Tea Party is the new Klan and to play the race card for all it’s worth. Just listen:

Ed Morrissey concentrates on Congressman Andre Carson’s (D-IN) claim that Republicans and Tea-Partiers would be happy to see Blacks lynched. That’s outrageous enough as it is — Carson shouldn’t just apologize and resign, he should be expelled from the House. But listen to the rest: claim after claim that Americans advocating limited government and fiscal sanity are motivated by racism (4), are the enemy, and, as the execrable Maxine Waters puts it, can go “straight to Hell.” This is class warfare blended with good, old-fashioned racism — only the racism is coming from the CBC.

(Be sure to click through to Ed’s post for a second video, this time with Congressman Allen West responding to Rep. Carson and making it quite clear that he’s reconsidering his membership in the CBC. I’m also sorry to see featured in the video my former Assemblywoman and former Speaker of the CA State Assembly, Rep. Karen Bass. She should be ashamed.)

Anyway, there you have it. With a dismal record in office and with the increasing rejection of progressive ideology by a majority of the nation, all the Democratic Party “leadership” has left to offer is class envy, ethnic vitriol, and social division.

Now there’s Hope and Change.

UPDATE: Heh. The Washington Examiner contacted Congressman Carson’s DC office to ask if he would identify which members of Congress want to see him lynched. So far, no response.

(1) How does NEN get these videos? They must have a spy network to rival the CIA…
(2) Last I checked, the Tea Party counted very few millionaires and billionaires in its ranks.
(3) Yeah, I’m un-PC. I shall report to my nearest reeducation center right after lunch.
(4) I’d like to see them pull this crap on Allen West, Tim Scott, Marco Rubio, Susana Martinez, Nikki Haley, and other minority conservatives who’ve risen to political prominence. Or does that call for the related “Uncle Tom card?”
