First, sorry for the light blogging today. I think I’ve overdone it the last few days in terms of playing catch-up both in my personal life and at the 8-5 after my week and a half long bout with the swine flu, and I came home tonight with a headache, lingering cough, and a feeling of being wiped out so I decided to take the night off from blogging.
The WaPo’s indispensable media guru Howie Kurtz profiles ABC News reporter Jake Tapper in his column today, and is chock full of background info and great quotes from people who have worked with him and who have gone toe to toe with him as well. It portrays him as straight down the line, about as neutral as you can get, which is what we all saw last year while he (primarily) covered the Obama campaign. He won’t even vote in presidential elections anymore in an effort to maintain his neutrality.
Throughout the media frenzy over Barack Obama last year, ABC News’ Jake Tapper was a bright beacon of light, shining scrutiny onto all candidates, not just those on one side of the aisle or another. He has continued his exemplary work this week, as in this video clip you can see him schooling Obama spox Robert Gibbs on Obama’s position on transparency during yesterday’s press briefing. Ouch.
