About that leaked NIE ‘report’

Malkin’s got all the details, including a report that the WH is considering completely declassifying the NIE report in order to set the record straight on the select details that were leaked to the press yesterday.

Isn’t it a shame in this country that in a time of war, the MSM and their Democrat pals work so hard to undermine that war with illegal leaks to the point that the WH feels it has to declassify items that really should remain classified for national security concerns in order to refute the leakers? Pathetic.

Update II: MSNBC is reporting that Bush has ordered the entire NIE report declassified. Kim Priestap at Wizbang links up to Fox’s story about the President’s decision.

Update VII: Just got done reading it. Whoever leaked the intial info to the press was likely deliberately misleading the press. Here are what is fueling jihad:

Four underlying factors are fueling the spread of the jihadist movement: (1) Entrenched grievances, such as corruption, injustice, and fear of Western domination, leading to anger, humiliation, and a sense of powerlessness; (2) the Iraq “jihad;” (3) the slow pace of real and sustained economic, social, and political reforms in many Muslim majority nations; and (4) pervasive anti-US sentiment among most Muslims-all of which jihadists exploit.

Will we see a re-write or correction on the MSM’s initial conclusions? Doubt it.

Should jihadists leaving Iraq perceive themselves, and be perceived, to have failed, we judge fewer fighters will be inspired to carry on the fight.”

Which is exactly what W has been saying. We lose in Iraq, the terrorists win. We win, THEY LOSE. Got that, Democrats?
