One of the weirdest things about the $410 Billion bill is that they somehow managed to get a provision in there concerning the current embargo with Cuba. They really can get anything into a Bill these days. Its almost crazy.

Watched a video the other day, it said the embargo was designed to bring Cuba to its knees, but that “It has come nowhere close to bringing them down. The embargo has made Cubans only more dependent on their leaders and their leaders more dependent on our [U.S.] enemies.” I don’t understand the need to open up trade with another country that views us as an enemy.

You know, the conservative intelligensia tells me that the era of Reagan is over, but yet here is Evan Bayh sounding a great deal Reaganesque. Could it be that these same people who were all aga over Barack, could it be that they are not just dead wrong about Him, but also about the era of Reagan??? Reagan was one of the greatest things to ever happen to this country, not Barack, and definately not slick Willie, Ronald Reagan. God do I miss him more than ever.

Steve, I won’t disagree with you, but I don’t know how we can treat one enemy state (China) differently than we treat another. Let’s face it, Communist China has killed more Americans than Comunist Cuba, but we trade with them, and have for the last 30 years. We might as well open up the borders of Cuba and maybe after a couple dozen years someone will rise up against the communist leaders as, like good Democrats, they will get wealthy off of the backs of the working class. Not that old Fidel isn’t already a billionaire, but when they start seeing how much wealth that can be accumulated, they are going to want some of that. It is my prayer they get it too. – Lorica
