It’s Not The Bow, It’s The Hypocrisy

Little Green Footballs has a video up showing claiming (see update below) that Bush, too, bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, as if that’s a double standard on the right’s part for making fun of Obama and his bow. It isn’t a double-standard on OUR part, it’s a double-standard on the left’s part, and that’s what we’re pointing out (most of us, anyway).

Remember, when Bush winked at Queen Elizabeth, the left went ape-s##t over it, calling him juvenille and the like. When he held hands with one of the Saudis and then dared to be kissed on the cheek by one, we were treated with non-stop photoshops of both events. So you see, it’s not that we on the right particularly care if Obama shows a foreign head of state some courtesy, whether it’s established protocol or not, it’s the hypocrisy of the left we’re pointing out. As I said in an earlier post:

Why is it suddenly so acceptable to give her [the Queen] a gift β€” a gift that represents the American people and how we feel about our closest allies, mind you β€” you can buy at any department store for a few hundred bucks? Why is it suddenly so acceptable that you not curtsy to the Queen? Why is it suddenly ok to not bow properly to her? And why is it suddenly ok to manhandle an 83-year old woman?

Short answer: because a Democrat is the one doing it. See, now it’s ok because β€œgrown-ups” are in charge. These are not grown-ups. These are not people with experience in dealing with others in a diplomatic capacity. They are, in short, teenagers whose parents have gone out for the evening and figured out how to open the liquor cabinet.

I also said in another post:

If you’re going to bow to a foreign monarch, then do it consistently and bow to all of them. If you’re not, then don’t do it at all.

I think that’s more than fair, don’t you?

Look, the fact of the matter is, this guy is an amatuer running around simply pretending to be President, pretending to be Presidential, pretending to be eloquent, and pretending to know what he’s doing. The fact of the matter is, he’s in over his head, and the sooner people realize that, the better. If they finally realize he’s not the Messiah of politics, then maybe they’ll start questioning his ideas and policies, and then maybe, just maybe, the left won’t be able to destroy this country that we love so much.

Update: If you watch the video on LGF (I didn’t, because that wasn’t the point of this post, but Legal Insurrection sent an email telling me to watch it), you will clearly see that the only reason Bush “bowed” to the Saudi King was so that he could put a medal around his neck. Clearly not the same thing as Obama bending so low he was almost kissing the carpet.
