I think each and every state should reign in it’s Federal Representation and create laws that specifically state that these citizens must be a part of this trash. These buffoons are not above anyone, and it is time to hold them accountable. “F” their superior attitude. We the people are going to always get trash legislation as long as these losers can exempt themselves. – Lorica

I agree with Lorica.

One of the worst decisions to come out of the Supreme Court in my lifetime was the one that exempted the House and Senate from term limits.

Perhaps they should require that the proceeds from books penned by public officials or about their time as public officials be taxed at the 100% rate.

All government employees need to be signed up for this trashy coverage…not just the elected ones.

Government employees have health care coverage far superior to what is offered the rest of us even today on the open market. Government employees also have lovely pensions to keep them happy in their dotage.

In fact the next huge bill coming due down the pike is their pensions…that we are supposed to pay.

It should be law that anything, and I do mean ANYTHING, that those buffoons foist upon the citizens of the country is just as applicable to them. That would include not only the health “care”, but also carbon footprint laws, taxes (where “honorariums” are treated as regular income and includes the real cost of travel to-and-from), and even making public such things as parking tickets, speeding tickets and prostitution busts for all members, not just the Republicans.

Except for liable laws applicable to speeches in the Congress, I find no reason any of them should be “more equal than others”, including the POTUS and VP.

This isn’t true Mary. As far as Federal Employees go, the Gov. is to lazy to do it’s due diligence and actually sit down with the insurance companies and come up with some decent plans. Right now they have this crazy mixed up thing called a cafeteria plan, where 50 different companies vie for our dollars. It is a mess and not very good either.

I had way better insurance in the private sector. Almost as good as the new American Royalty, we use to call our Senators and Representatives.

As far as retirement goes, the old system CSRS was paid for mostly by it’s employees. The new system is a Social Security/401K plan, not at all different from what the private sector has. – Lorica

That not necessary true about state employee’s. I have a few friends that work for the state and from what they say, there insurance sucks.

I agree if this passes then ALL fed and state employees should be part of it. I think a lot of the states are looking forward to this, as it would allow them to dump their health care more on a fed level instead of the state itself.

Just so, Lorica, but the real problem is the pension plan the “citizen representatives” have given themselves. Can’t recall a whole bunch of private industry companies that dole out to their former employees what the Sens and Reps have voted for themselves – all in the name of attracting the “best and the brightest”. And that is, in most cases, even if they’ve left office in shame, and for sure if they were just voted out.

If Dodd, Kennedy, Reid, Pelosi and Boxer represent the “best and the brightest” of our citizenry, we’re in a lot worse shape than even I suspected.

Now that is a wholly different kettle of fish. I sort of address this in my 2nd paragraph when I talk about the new American Royalty. I personally think that there should be a 12 year term limit, and no retirement plan for these guys. Also, any pay raise or insurance benefits should only be set by a vote of the people. In what world does the employee tell the employer when they deserve a pay raise?? It is just idiotic. – Lorica

If it was a requirement that all members of Congress be enrolled in the Obama health care pla, I’m sure that the rush to make a decision would slow down dramatically. If the Obama plan is so good, Congress should lead by example and should be the first to enroll. Better yet, let Congress enroll first and after two years they would be in a better position to evaluate the plan and make a wise decision based on their own personal experience.

It occurs to me the donk party is just chock full of nuts. There’s the clown from Minnesota, the Joker that forgot only a part of her makeup as Speaker, and, best of all, the VP who blazes new trails down his own throat daily.
