Irony, thy name is “ObamaCare”

Posted by: Phineas on September 21, 2010 at 10:45 am

When the (Social) Democrats were shoving ObamaCare down our throats, one of the trumps they played was the Absolute Moral Authority Card: do it for the children!

Now that ObamaCare has passed, insurance companies have to deal with the new costs imposed by the legislation. Since the government threatens to break their legs if they raise prices, there’s only one rational response: cut services.

And thus it is that insurance companies are eliminating children-only plans.

Heckuva job, Progressives.

  1. NC Cop says:

All part of their plan to put the insurance companies out of business. Now, they will demonize the companies even further, claiming that they “don’t care” about sick children!!!

They are masters of propaganda, I’ll give them that. Then the insurance companies will be driven out of business leaving only one: the government run insurance.

    Brilliant!!!

  2. proof says:

It’s called “unintended consequences”. Democrats and other brain dead liberals (but I repeat myself!) are famous for them.

  3. Zippy says:

While noble to want to heal the world of everything that ails it, in application it’s not only impractical but stupid. These idiots have no concept of the consequences until now? I’ll bet this is Bush’s fault too..

Only a moron would sacrifice the whole nation for the few. What a maroon. *bites tongue and keeps from squealing four letter words*

  4. their only concern(the democrats) was getting 30 million non-payers into the insurance system. 30 million more bought and payed for votes. this is how liberal america has built its political empire. confiscate the money of people who work, dole some of it out to buy votes, and keep yourself permanently entrenched in power. this way you can be crooked, corrupt, greedy, incompetent, immoral, unethical and keep getting elected every year. they don’t care about the poor or the children or anyone else. all they care about is their power to stay permanently IN POWER. they call it social justice but it is really tyranny.

  5. Carlos says:

proof, the Law of Unintended Consequences has no meaning to the arrogant, blunderbuss ways of the intelligencia. If a problem crops up after one of their brilliant solutions to a non-crisis, they’ll just solve it with another whack with a ten-pound hammer!

And if that creates more problems, then their brilliance will allow them once again to dazzle the world with their brilliance and kill another fly, probably with a bazooka this time.

    And if that one…

They are so arrogant they think their solutions are the only ones that could possibly work, and that the only reason socialism has never succeeded in the history of mankind is because THEY weren’t in charge!

  6. Tango says:

….not a problem! Haven’t y’all heard? BarryO will be signing an executive order soon that forces McDonald’s restaurants to install free pediatric clinics at each location. ;)

  7. Steve Hussein Skubinna says:

Now watch Sibelius get all Old Testament on these poor companies – she’s going to be all over them like white on rice.

And to those blaming “unintended consequences,” I would not put my money on it. It’s entirely reasonable that the intent of Obamacare is to force private insurers out of business so the only possible provider will be – you guessed it, the federal government. Back when the pre-campaign Obama was touting single payer, he was certainly telling the truth – his later claims that oh no, he never even HEARD of single payer are… well, we call them bare faced lies where I come from. Yup, the same folks who run the IRS and Post Office will be managing your health care.

Don’t sweat it, people, everybody dies sooner or later. And the way things will be once the left has total control, sooner rather than later might be a blessing. And anyway, they’re going to be needing a supply of Solylent Green.

  8. Carlos says:

Actually, Steve, ObamaCare did have a definite unintended consequence: it galvanized the anger that’s been building in the general population for years to the point of boiling over.

And, fortunately, that’s one of the few times an unintended consequence is a good thing.

As for Duh-1′s statement that he’d rather be a one-term prez that did the right thing than a two-term that didn’t, I wish that he’d be the first, but that’s never gonna happen. He hasn’t a clue what “the right thing” is!

But we can make him just a one-term prez, and that will be a good thing, too.
