Does our President need a spanking?

There are several way to explain President Obama’s often-odd, against self-interests behavior in office: he’s passive; he doesn’t like detail; or he lacks executive experience. I’ve often resorted to “He’s a Socialist ideologue and what he does makes perfect sense if one interprets it in light of Alinskyite incremental stealth Socialism and Black Liberation Theology,” though admittedly that’s a mouthful to say over the dinner table.

But, in all honesty, when I read something like this, I have to admit I can’t explain the sheer bloody-minded stupidity of it all:

President Obama finally and quietly accepted his “transparency” award from the open government community this week — in a closed, undisclosed meeting at the White House on Monday.

The secret presentation happened almost two weeks after the White House inexplicably postponed the ceremony, which was expected to be open to the press pool.

This time, Obama met quietly in the Oval Office with Gary Bass of OMB Watch, Tom Blanton of the National Security Archive, Danielle Brian of the Project on Government Oversight, Lucy Dalglish of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, and Patrice McDermott of, without disclosing the meeting on his public schedule or letting photographers or print reporters into the room.

(Emphases added.)

I mean, didn’t someone on the staff point out the self-defeating and embarrassing irony of this? Accepting an award for transparency in conditions of secrecy that would make Nixon proud?

Seriously, what is going through his head?

Okay, call me nuts, but I have a theory: We all know of the President’s ego. He thinks the world of himself, he was raised in relative ease, and was never really, truly challenged in a knock-down, drag out, gut check kind of way. He’s pretty much glided from promotion to promotion, a living example of the Peter Principle. When he became president, he expected things would go as smoothly as they had in the past, and that glib words from him would be enough to get by.

But it didn’t work out that way. The presidency is unlike any other job, and you don’t succeed at it with just some nice speeches and TV interviews.

And Obama, for the first time in his life, found himself being held responsible — and he didn’t like it!

So now he’s acting petulantly: the press doesn’t fawn (as much) over him anymore? Fine. He’ll bar them from his transparency award ceremony and to heck with how it looks! I mean, did you listen to his tone in parts of his speech on Libya? It was as if he was scolding or chiding the American people for daring to question him.

I still think he’s a Socialist, but now I’m convinced he’s an immature, passive-aggressive Socialist and what we’re seeing is him “acting out.”

It’s come to this, my friends: Our president needs a time out.

The man simply believes that if he desires it, and states those desires, it will come about. He is a narcissist of the highest order. When things don’t go his way, he can’t cope with it.

This is a very dangerous condition for a man with the power of the Presidency. Will it ultimately bring his downfall as it did with Nixon? Not sure that Nixon was any where near the level of narcissism that Obama has.

Absolutely. Like his pronouncements that “Mubarak must go!” and “Qadaffi must go!” No specifics; they just have to disappear because the One has decreed it so.

A spanking would make us feel good for a little while, so would a time out. Implicit within these considerations is the hope that somewhere there is a behavioral modification technique that would lead to responsible behavior by Obama. Given the multitude of data points available in this area, it aint gonna happen.
One solution available to us, however, is based on one of my favorite engineering maxims: What Aint There aint Gonna Fail. Got to do swhat it takes to see he is not reelected.

  4. Carp 3 says:

I think he is a shining example of the race based entitlement culture. Because I am x, I deserve y.

  5. cuchieddie says:

It is my professional opinion that a spanking will do absolutely no good. What this poser needs is a good old fashioned a$$ kicking.

  6. Rorschach says:

Oh, he needs WAAAAYYYY more than a spanking….

  7. david foster says:

I do not think Obama is a classical Socialist. He doesn’t want to run the factories, mines, steel mills, farms, etc, which might involve actually taking responsibility for their performance…he want to put those who *do* run these enterprises into a position of complete subservience to the government and specifically to his party. This is closer to economic fascism/corporatism than to classical socialism.

  8. GS Patton says:

He deserves a carbine, two days water ration and some mess. Then, put him in a drop zone with some Rangers near Bhenghazi to site targets. See if he survives a day without his methadone.

He is more than a narcissist: he is a junkie. Soetoro couldn’t resist the pharma he has access to thru the white house physician—- complete and utter confidentiality.

It will come out in due time. He is a junkie.

  9. mike191 says:

President 44 needs impeachment and the “fourth estate” could use a spanking.

  10. Zippy says:

Always knew he was passive aggressive (arrogant narcissist, bully and twin for Alfred E. Newman from Mad Magazine). He doesn’t need a time out. The little punk (feel free to substitute anther word here) needs a kick in the a$$.

  11. your mama says:

No Obama doesn’t need a spanking.
He needs to be voted out of office in 2012.
An incompetent and embarrassment to the Country.

  12. Old Goat says:

With the way Obama manages things… if you are really able to say that… I’m not so sure our Country will survive till 2012.

  13. Carlos says:

@david foster: you have just described classic National Socialism. We know it better by the abbreviated word that is used and bandied about for that brand of socialism, “Nazi.”

So when some moonbat decries Dubya or Darth Cheney or Walker as a “Nazi,” they are essentially berating themselves because it is their own socialism that describes them socially and ideologically most fully.

  14. Glenn Bergen says:

Does anything surprise me? Obama probably appointed this commitee to nominate Him for the transparency Award. He mercifully held the award ceremony behind closed doors. He would have been laughed out of the WH.

  15. captaingrumpy says:

He has full time staff of five, constantly on the phone, trying to gather more awards and such that the president may be ready for.
This takes time and they are flat out.
The phone bill must be horrendous.

  16. Carlos says:

Not to worry, captain, the taxpayers (you know, those of endlessly deep pockets that are for politicians only) foot the bill for all that.
