I knew the guy was a narcissist, but declaring himself the fourth-best president in our history?

From his 60 Minutes interview with Steve Croft:

The issue here is not gonna be a list of accomplishments. As you said yourself, Steve, you know, I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president — with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln — just in terms of what we’ve gotten done in modern history. But, you know, but when it comes to the economy, we’ve got a lot more work to do. And we’re gonna keep on at it.

Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Jackson, Polk? Pikers! Teddy Roosevelt? Bah! Ronald Reagan? Don’t make me laugh. They and all the others are but nothing before The O-Man!’

I mean, what did Warren G. Harding ever do but end a massive economic depression in less than three years?

I’m sure Our Munificent Sun King could have done it in two, if it were worthy of his talents.

Yeesh.

  1. Drew the Infidel says:

In “The Obama Diairies” Laura Schlesinger makes a convincing diagnosis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder” for this counterfeit “pres**ent” we are suffering through. I mean, when you have a guy that has ghost-written memoirs at age 33 serious questions have to arise.

  2. Joseph Brown says:

Seems to me I remember reading about a guy from Germany who thought HE was god’s gift to the world. How’d that work out?

  3. Carlos says:

Make that “multiple” ghost-written memoirs, Drew.

Ya know, for a guy who’s “written” multiple books about himself (because there is no other subject worthy of his time, don’tcha know?), it’s amazing how absolutely little is known about this “most brilliant man in history.”

And as far as his placement in the line of presidential history, I’d put him at the very top! If the line was from the worst to the best in descending order, that is.

  4. Tango says:

…uh, Barry? Exactly WHAT would those “foreign policy successes” actually BE?

  5. FR in SC says:

Drew, “The Obama Diaries” was written by Laura Ingraham, not Dr. Schlesinger. And megadittos to everything Carlos wrote!!

  6. AndyN says:

You’re understating the case. He didn’t declare himself the fourth best president in history, he declared himself the best president in history and was magnanimous enough to entertain the possibility that three others may have been able to compete with his magnificence.
