Shocker: Lying weasel Jay Carney caught lying like a weasel about #Benghazi

US Consulate, Benghazi

And I think the shocking thing is that it’s the MSM exposing him (emphases added):

When it became clear last fall that the CIA’s now discredited Benghazi talking points were flawed, the White House said repeatedly the documents were put together almost entirely by the intelligence community, but White House documents reviewed by Congress suggest a different story.

ABC News has obtained 12 different versions of the talking points that show they were extensively edited as they evolved from the drafts first written entirely by the CIA to the final version distributed to Congress and to U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice before she appeared on five talk shows the Sunday after that attack.

White House emails reviewed by ABC News suggest the edits were made with extensive input from the State Department. The edits included requests from the State Department that references to the Al Qaeda-affiliated group Ansar al-Sharia be deleted as well references to CIA warnings about terrorist threats in Benghazi in the months preceding the attack.

That would appear to directly contradict* what White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said about the talking points in November.

“Those talking points originated from the intelligence community. They reflect the IC’s best assessments of what they thought had happened,” Carney told reporters at the White House press briefing on November 28, 2012. “The White House and the State Department have made clear that the single adjustment that was made to those talking points by either of those two institutions were changing the word ‘consulate’ to ‘diplomatic facility’ because ‘consulate’ was inaccurate.”

*(MSM-speak for “Jay Carney is a lying weasel.”)

We already know from The Weekly Standard that State and a failed fiction writer now working as an Obama national-security aide were heavily involved in “editing” the initial CIA talking points. This ABC report shows how many iterations they went through before the bowdlerized version was handed to Ambassador Rice for her role as designated mouthpiece the following Sunday. Then, when the talking points were shown to be a fiction, Carney went before the public to lie about their origins. The only question is was he knowingly lying, or was he played for a sap?

But, annoying as it is to have yet another example of the administration’s dishonesty over Benghazi (1) come out, the real story in my opinion here isn’t that a press secretary lied to cover his boss and his top aides. No, the real story here is that the MSM is finally getting interested in Benghazi, finally “uncovering” all these shocking revelations only after Obama has been safely reelected.

They’ve done their job, you see. They pushed Obama over the finish line twice, so now they can go back to pretending they’re objective journalists. There’s no need to “play Pravda” anymore, at least in this case. Now they can break news of things they could easily have discovered back in September, October, and November, except that it might have hurt Obama’s reelection chances.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m glad they’re finally doing their jobs. Benghazi is a huge scandal and the story has to be told. But don’t expect me to praise them for “holding the powerful accountable,” when their self-serving cynicism (2) is so dazzling.

RELATED: The Right Sphere reaches back in time to remind us that Carney’s boss was telling the same lies on a national stage just before the election.

Footnote:
(1) Remember, the administration knew what happened that night from their people on the ground. The jihadis themselves knew what happened; it was their operation. The only people being deceived here were us.
(2) There are a few exceptions, of course, but the corruption of the MSM as an institution is spread far and wide.

Sorry for the language…we conservatives need to start getting pissed off!!!

Watching Jay Carney is like watching shit drip down a wall. You are left wondering: How the f*ck did that piece of sh*t get there?

From ABC News (who came to the party very late)

In an email to officials at the White House and the intelligence agencies, State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland took issue with including that information because it “could be abused by members [of Congress] to beat up the State Department for not paying attention to warnings, so why would we want to feed that either? Concerned …”

    Welcome to “Wonderland” Jay!!!

    Let’s review the facts here.

    (1) Jay Carney works for a Democrap administration.

    (2) Jay Carney is himself a Democrap.

Therefore, it is only reasonable to conclude that Jay Carney is a liar. As is any other Democrap in the administration, including Prez Zero, Hillarious Clinton and Victoria Nuland.

  3. Drew the Infidel says:

To this point the LSM has acted as unpaid PR consultants for this filthy administration. Anytime anyone screwed up by having the audacity to talk out of school, the Obhammudites would simply employ their “Little Bo Peep” strategy; “Leave them alone/ and they will come home/ wagging their tails behind them”. Though the media has followed Fox’s lead on this, it will be one of Hell’s blue days before anyone can safely trust them again.

His brain is squirming like a toad…

  5. Carlos says:

He has a brain? Now THAT’S news.

And I was shocked – shocked, I tell you – that NBC spent a couple of minutes in their “news”cast tonight on Benghazi. They never called Carney or the administration liars, but did mention that much of what Carney and the administration has said about Benghazi in the past eight months was “not the truth.”

At least a step in the right direction, but I wouldn’t expect it to last when they wake up from this (for them) nightmare and see that they are damaging the god they themselves placed over the nation, and there’s gonna be heck to pay if he can’t be shored up in other ways.

Look for a new national crisis in the next ten days that will demand attention be averted from all this.

  6. Neo says:

With the abuse by the IRS, this is really taking on the dimensions of Watergate.
All that’s missing at this point are the colorful characters like G Gordon Liddy and Donald Segretti, but I’m sure there is a replacement for Donald over at Organizing For America.

  7. Good post, and it summarizes my thoughts on the matter as well.

What’s also interesting is how the libs are spinning like tops on the various websites, trying desperately to either deflect attention and/or blame Republicans.

They deflect through a series of straw men, and unfortunately some on our side take the bait and the conversation goes off on a wild tangent. Best, I think, to always refocus and remind the lib of the central facts of the case.

They blame Republicans by the “underfunded embassy security” shibboleth. As I’m sure is known here, the idea that a few extra dollars spent on the consulate at Benghazi would have made any difference is ridiculous.

  8. Carlos says:

Ya know, it used to be that other countries at least tried to cover up any involvement in attacks against the United States. They knew that the connection would bring outrage from our public and funds would get cut off or reduced, and they couldn’t have that now, could they?

Unfortunately, that is no longer the case, and those that would harm us are emboldened not only by such as the Benghazi response but by the time period leading up to the attacks.

If the biggest “whip” in your arsenal is to make an empty threat of being pissed, what bully (individual terrorist, group of terrorists or terrorist-sponsoring state) is going to shake in their boots? Especially when they know our country is as vested in hiding the facts as they are?

What’s not surprising to me is that the party of the KKK and Jim Crow now includes luminaries like Kerry and Obama whose only bullying is of their own citizens.

  9. kd says:

Not that I’m defending the guy, but let’s face facts: Jay Carney, as the WH press secretary, is, by definition, paid to regurgitate whatever message the Oval Office wants put out to the media. That’s what the position itself is all about, no matter who’s in office. It is what any press secretary is hired to do.

That being said, I don’t think the entire blame should rest on Carney’s shoulders. The fact that this administration sees no problem in destroying any credibility one of their own might possess is telling all on its own. Carney, for his part, must have already paid some kid’s way to college on what he spends for antacids and sleep aids.

  10. Jesse says:

Yes, I agree with kd, that the entire blame should not rest on Carney’s shoulders. As much as I dislike him, and think he is a lying weasel, Jay is merely doing his job, which is to say whatever his boss tells him to say. The MSM is finally wising up to the lies of this administration, and I think it’s clear to even the most obtuse that the lies come all the way from the top.
