California Conservative has some pictures from anti-war demonstrations in San Francisco, as well as links to others.
Michelle Malkin has photos she took from her from her visit to the anti-war protests being held this weekend in DC.
Interesting how these ‘pro-peace’ types don’t have posters and signs backing up that belief, but instead ones that are openly hostile and sometimes display violence towards the President and others who advocated the Iraq war.
More: Jeff Goldstein dissects an anti-war puff piece from the AP, and also takes a closer look at the numbers being reported as the ‘official’ rally attendance count. No surprise that it appears that the numbers were inflated.
(Minor off-topic rant: it looks like Word Press’ auto-trackback feature, which allows for WordPress bloggers to automatically trackback to posts they’ve linked to once they hit the post key, is down again – argh! Manual trackbacking it is, then.)

One thing is absolutely certain. When one of your protest tactics is to deliberately try and get arrested, you aren’t living in a fascist state. They can whine about the evil police and claim that Bush and the Republicans are Nazi’s all they want, but no one in a real facist state tries to get themselves arrested, they know where that leads, to torture and “disappearing.” Yet another tactic of the Left that proves that their statements are lies. Like the statements, covered by every press outlet there is, showing them complaining about vicious censorship. Yup, that’s why I see them screeching on my TV set on the nightly news every night, they’re censored!
Why is it considered so bad for people to want the killing to stop? The Iraqis want us out of Iraq, the Americans want us out of Iraq, the Brits want us out of Iraq. If another country had occupied the US and we, rightfully and expectedly, fought back to reclaim our land, would we be the insurgents? Were Americans the insurgents during the War of Independence? According to the Brits, yes.
What is wrong with demanding that our gov’t take care of its own citizens rather than “spread democracy” (very selectively) around the globe, whether they want it or not.
Dissent is patriotic. Questioning leaders and demanding they listen to the American people’s points of view is the most American thing one can do. Blindly following our leaders is not how this country was designed.
I am really getting tired of this “dissent is patriotic” BS. Particularly as it comes from the VERY people/groups who do the most to stifle dissenting viewpoints and shout down opposing opinions. Yeah, the Left just loves dissent, that’s why when counter protestors show up, they threaten them, shout them down, and get their union thugs to beat the stuffing out of them. Remember in the last election, Leftist Union Thugs storming Republican campaign offices around the country. Remember a little girl having a sign ripped out of her hand and left crying by a sensitive leftist? The hypocrisy of the Left is staggering.
Go to a college campus, the bastion of Leftism, and see how hard it is to voice a dissenting opinion. Like to be brought up on charges of racism or intollerance while being forced to attend political re-education camp, er, “sensitivity training?” Dissent is so wonderfully tolerated by the Left.
The Left uses this “dissent is patriotic” mantra to rationalize their participation in blatent un-American activities that often stray into sedition and treason. But it’s “Patriotic” they whine, as they shout down anyone with an opposing view.
Here’s a question for you. If dissent is so patriotic, how did you feel about people who came out and protested and engaged in acts of civil disobedience when the government was attempting to integrate the schools and push civil rights for blacks forward? Were the racists throwing rocks and garbage at young black students trying to attend school “patriots?”
The answer is NO, just as you who’s protests weaken this country and encourage it’s enemies in time of war are not patriots either.
Stop hiding behind this nonsense and at least have the honesty to admit you hate the country.

It’s not Elendril.
People like me wanting the killing to stop. But what would happen if we left tomorrow Eendril? 100 times more killing as the terrorists would take the country over. The Baathists would be back in power in no time and we would’ve done the worst thing for the Iraqi people by leaving before they were ready.
BTW, There is a high percentage of Iraqi’s (close to 70%) who do not want us to leave until they can protect themselves according to polling. Yes, they want us to leave but not yet. Foundational facts must be in order when you make your points.
BTW, Dissent is fine. Cindy was arrested because she broke the law. Cindy also keeps stating anti-semetic views and keeps making false allegations. Her false allegations are torn to shreds on web-sites such as this one. Are these dissenting views (based on fact) allowed?
“The Left uses this “dissent is patriotic” mantra to rationalize their participation in blatent un-American activities… ”
I’m sorry, but the land of the free allows me to express my opinions, however unappealing they may be to you. It also allows you to express your, no matter how unappealing they are to me.
There are a tremendous number of people, in the USA and throughout the world, that feel the US invasion of Iraq was imperialistic, unwise, and unnecessary. That in no way implies that any of these people think that Saddam was right or that the Iraqi gov’t wasn’t corrupt. I just refuse to sit back and let the US gov’t run rampant and do whatever they want, no matter what party they belong to.
BTW, no, I do not remember hearing about Leftist Thugs raiding Republican campaign offices during the elections. I do remember a few individuals having their finances scrutinized. And if you want to talk about some little girl whose sign was taken away, why don’t you talk to the guy who drove his pick-up over the crosses in Crawford. Those crosses represented the service men and women who gave their lives for this country in what many consider to be an ill-guided war.
And if you want to talk about counter-protesters, why are they out there trying to stop American people from expressing their opinions?

Tell that to the Senators (Bush isn’t a king) who gave Bush the authority by a large margin to use force in Iraq.
There are checks and balances and the anti-war people fail to realize that it isn’t just Bush that did stuff that you Elendril don’t like.
My objection to your arguments in the past were the Foundation Facts that you were misrepresenting. Sure there are people doing wrong things on both sides of the argument. I’d consider that you are one if you continue to misrepresent the truth after being corrected.
It’s perfectly fine to have a different opinion.
