Smiling while being arrested

The photos speak for themselves.

Story:

WASHINGTON (AP) – Cindy Sheehan, the California woman who has used her son’s death in Iraq to spur the anti-war movement, was arrested Monday while protesting outside the White House.

Sheehan and several dozen other protesters sat down on the sidewalk after marching along the pedestrian walkway on Pennsylvania Avenue. Police warned them three times that they were breaking the law by failing to move along, then began making arrests.

Sheehan, 48, was the first taken into custody. She stood up and was led to a police vehicle while protesters chanted, "The whole world is watching."

On a related note, Byron York at NRO takes an inside look at the anti-war ‘festivities’ from this past weekend.  Please read the entire piece.

Yeah, those pictures speak a thousand words. Like in the land of the free, a citizen can’t even sit quietly on a sidewalk without being arrested.

      Dissent is patriotic.

      Elendril,
You can’t sit on a sidewalk if that’s against the rules. Try doing that in front of George Clooney’s house. You won’t be sitting there long…

I remember a day when we were protesting at the Sacramento Capitol concerning the Gore/Bush election that Gore only wanted certain counties in FL to be recounted more than 4 times until he got the result he wanted.

WE HAD a PERMIT. A hundred of us decided to take the few block walk to protest the Sacramento Bee newspaper’s coverage. We were asked to leave the sidewalk because we didn’t have a permit for that protest. We’d have to keep moving as the police asked Cindy to do 3 times.

Foundational facts must be in order before you can make good points…

    3. You are a voice of reason as always, Bak :)

 Her actions are a disgrace to her son’s memory!!!

No, Elendril, dissent is just dissent.

What really grabs me about these pictures. It is the look of mourning for her lost son on her face. If she truly was doing this for her son, I would think that there would be alittle less smiling. The look on her face is just not serious enough for the occasion or for what she is preaching about. I think the wording on this piece is correct, “used her son’s death”. I have no children and my father and I did not get along, but when he died I was still heart broken for many years. It affected me constantly. Even now it is hard to think about those times even tho it will be 14 years this January.
LOL Now I find that the man my Father was is exactly what I am becoming. He was a better man / Father, than I gave him credit for until he was taken from me. – Lorica

    7. Jihad Cindy, you bettah SLOW that Mustang Down! says:

I should like to sum up the recent Jihad Cindy” Press & Propaganda Opportunity” in New York, this way:

      ‘Cindy shows her DUNLOP!’

You know, that is when your belly has DUN LOPPED over your belt. Cindy, pull your shirt down – leave a little something to the imagination and sheer horror of young men throughout the world.

Cin, that ain’t ‘SHOCK AND AWE’ – That’s ‘SHOCK AND BRA!’ You are SO NOT GELLIN’ Miss McMelon.

      Sincerely,
      –The Snarky Infidel

I feel compelled to once again point out that if you’re sitting there grinning while you are being arrested, that’s sure proof that, regardless of the whining and complaining of the left, you don’t live in a repressive, fascist society. People in N. Korea and Cuba don’t go out of their way to get arrested, and sure don’t look happy when they are.

    9. Severian says:

I also just love the “dissent is patriotic” mantra of the far left. Hmmm…guess the people protesting, blocking school entrances, and throwing trash and bottles at black children trying to attend white schools during desegregation in the ’60’s were true patriots, exercising their patriotic right to dissent eh? Damn, and all these years I thought they were racist, bigoted scum, and all this time they were patriotic heroes!:-"
