Nothing we didn’t already know, of course, considering he’s really been the only voice of sanity and consistency among the Democrats in Congress regarding the Iraq war – but it’s worth repeating, especially after you read this excellent piece written by blogger Seixon on how some lefty think tanks, blogs, and opinion piece writers are targeting him for his steadfast refusal to back down from his support of the Iraq war.
Seems as though strength, to some, is a weakness.

Poor Joe. From VP candidate to pariah in only a few short years, and without fundamentally changing his position on any issue. This, if nothing else, should serve as an indication of how far, and how fast, the Democratic party has skewed Left.
An indication of how far out of the “mainstream” of the Democratic party Lieberman is can be illustrated by the Democratic primaries for the last presidential election. Kuchinich did better in the primaries than Joe did for heaven’s sake!!! If that doesn’t tell you all you need to know about how far off bubble and into the lunatic fringe the Democrats have slid, nothing will. Rational, mature, reasoned statesmen need not apply.
Lieberman is Awesome. I didn’t like him too much as a VP canidate, due to the Gore influence on him. But as an independant thinker he is spot on.
I just got thru talking to my Lead Accountant, whom I have not seen in over a year. She has been away on a special assignment in Iraq, helping the DoD with things there. She was just telling me how well things are going over there, and how wrong the MSM is, and how much she despises CNN. She was telling me how much the Iraqi people love us being there and how hopeful they are that democracy is soon to be realized. I am like yea I know, Yea I know. I told her about this blog and about several others that I visit to keep up on things that are happening there. But now she is gone, and I won’t see her for another year due to her detail.
I know that things are going to work out for the Iraqis. They have been repressed for too long for them to just roll over and die now. We will see a democratic Iraq, very soon, and the sacrifice of our children will be honored by that. Always – Lorica
Lieberman is certainly the most realistic Democrat around. If I could somehow get a guarantee that he would not raise taxes or increase entitlements, I would vote for him over everyone other than Gingrich or Rice.
I’ve always wondered what it would feel like to flip the switch next to the (D) in the voting booth…
Everyone….even better. Now, joining the French, Move On and Cindy Sheehan we now have Nancy Pelosi! Even better, Pelosi is losing control of her party and her other “croynies” in the Democrat leadership are openly disagreeing with her! It’s about time the MSM started getting it:
LOU DOBS: Congressional Democrats tonight appear increasingly divided over the conduct of the war. (Negative) Nancy Pelosi declared she supports a quick withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. Other lead democrats insist there should be no set timetable for withdrawal. Ed Henry reports from Capitol Hill.
Good afternoon.
HENRY: Nancy Pelosi is now backing John Murtha’s push for a quick pullout of U.S. Troops and claims a majority of house democrats agree.
REP. PELOSI:The president is digging a hole in Iraq, it’s time for him to stop.
HENRY: Pelosi’s second-in-command Steny Hoyer of Maryland is expressing sharp disagreement saying — moderates, are privately grumbling that Pelosi’s position may pull the party to the left, and make it harder to capitalize on President Bush’s woes. Party strategists acknowledge deep division over how to get out of Iraq, just like the party divide over whether to get into the war. But say they’re unified on a key point.
REP. PELOSI: All Democrats agree that the course of action that the president is following is not the best one, and that we have to have another plan. (You should spit it out then!)
HENRY: Pelosi is also take heat for telling colleagues two weeks ago she would immediately endorse Murtha’s plan, but then didn’t. Speaker Dennis Hastert (go Denny go….he’s been on fire) accused Pelosi of having it both ways declaring — Pelosi, aides say, she only hesitated two weeks ago because she wanted John Murtha (more like sacrificial lamb!) to be the focus and jumped on board Wednesday because she saw the president’s speech and felt it was full of the status quo. Ed Henry, CNN, Washington.
Kevin…. It would feel like flipping a switch at the time…. the bamboo splinters under your finger nails would come later when you saw the results in our country from what you had done…

Hehe, probably true
The prominent House and Senate Democrats (including Nancy Pelosi!) were singing a different tune when Bill and Hillary Clinton were in office. That’s how Democrats are.
The Republican nominee against Pelosi for Congress in 1996 (when Clinton was running for re-election) was a conservative libertarian who ran against her, on an anti-war platform. During the Clinton administrations, Pelosi was a war hawk:
Rich Lowry, National Review: Nancy the Warrior
Whenever policies are pursued by those in an opposing party, Democrats are more likely to oppose them. But there have been some principled Democrats who have remained true to principle… Lieberman is hardly alone. (Rich Lowry wrote another article about that as well…)
The only way Lieberman could have gotten less attention from the MSM for his remarks would be if he was an Iraqi or a Republican.
