Wondering what kind of reviews the media punditry is giving the Senators on Confirmation Row? McQ over at QandO has a roundup of their opinions, and the Dems aren’t getting anything close to high marks.
Yes, the Republicans seem to be the only ones able to offer any sanity and reason to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Alito has been treated shamefully by the Democrats, yet fortunately, that has not been overlooked by the American people or the media. As hard as it is for them to admit, even the editors at the Washington Post had a few good words to say about Alito’s qualifications and support his confirmation to the Supreme Court.
Watching the hearings last week, a lot of inaccurate statements were made by Dems on the committee. My favorites included Senator Kennedy’s endless tirade about Judge Alito’s involvement with CAP (Concerned Alumni of Princeton), when he himself was a member of the Owl Club. I also enjoyed reading about Senator Biden’s rant against Princeton (he “wasn’t a big Princeton Fan”)in the hearings when he gave a speech in 2004 singing the praises of the university at the Wilson School. Something so simple as these facts point to the ridiculous nature of many accusations pointed against Alito – you must always consider the source of facts before you believe they are true.
You’re right. Facts definitely did not get in the way of some of the lines of questioning that were thrown at Judge Alito throughout the hearings. The facts that matter, however, his qualifications, his character, and his judicial intellect left the lasting impression.
Yep, sure left a lasting impression-one good enough to even convince Senator Feinstein that he is capable and qualified to sit on the Supreme Court. Yet admiting that, she is still voting against Alito’s confirmation. Isn’t her job to advise and then consent? Isn’t her advising done when she comes to the conclusion that he is a capable nominee? Isn’t it time for her and her cohorts to consent?
Wouldn’t that be nice…too bad they’re so entrenched with the far left interest groups that they probably believe most of the accusations they haphazardly threw at Judge Alito.
Yeah, it’s ridiculous you can drag a nominee through the mud like this, to the point of upsetting his wife, and have no consequences. I guess it’s up to the voters in 2006 & 2008 to recall this shameless display. I know Judge Alito will become one of the most respected justices, and mainstream America will remember this ridicuouls episode—which will hopefully conclude soon with a well-deserved confirmation.

It seems like there should be some sort of ramifications for the senators who deliberately make inaccurate statements about the nominee’s record.
