Busy busy day
Hey ya’ll,
Having one of those super busy days – will be back to blogging tonight … probably for the best as I need to step back from all the hype on the issue of the UAE port sale. This issue is turning out to be similar to the Harriet Miers issue in terms of the outrage and hyperventilating and sometimes when that happens, it’s best to step back and take a breather, refocus, and perhaps reconsider the facts.
Consider this an open thread. Catch ya’ll later tonight.

It would seem, from what I have read, that the entire UAE Royal Family has been VERY buddy buddy with Osama Bin Laden. The UAE might be totally goody two-shoes, just as Bush says. But that doesn’t mean all of the people who work for them are. And when anything happens, it seems like the Arab states standsback and say, Hey it wasn’t us, it was a rogue citizen. They have a lot of rogue citizens. What is the matter with the US simply protecting ourselves? Will UAE allow us to come in and run they value, say..ir… their mosques?
One could say we are racist, because the people attacking us are all Arab muslims. But maybe, instead of being racist, we are simply recognizing the enemy, and we are hoping that when we face the enemy, it is not on our front doorstep.
A good point about this being reminicent of the Harriet Miers snafu-Rush is promoting the port business sale as good, Bush says no problem…doesn’t matter-I’m still not in favor of a state run UAE company operating our ports. The more I dig into Islam, the more I reject as lies what any Muslim says. That isn’t racism, BTW-just reality. Arabs share with Jews being a Semitic race, and I have boodles of more trust in Israel and Jews than I ever will in Islam.
The issue seems pretty clear: Dubai has a LOT of people who love al Queda and hate our guts. Al Queda WILL exploit that. The UAE firm WILL be infiltrated. The infiltrators WILL use inside security info and deception to exploit the hole they were given. They WILL be good at this. So, we will NOT find them until they kill a bunch of us. Prudence says ‘avoid the deal’. That settled, let’s REALLY take on port and border security!
- I won’t dispute your “possibilities” suppositions Dave. So now when you have what appears as a good “get Bush” political meme, racial profiling suddenly becomes acceptable, or as you put it “prudent”. Just want to understand the ever shifting political sands of the left.
