ST, it would be good if you linked to that story of who was doing the dying in Iraq. One of my best friends is a VMI-educated Marine Corps officer. He chose jobs like Combat Engineering, Infantry, and now Forward Air Control. He tells me that in today’s Corps – you’re more likely to find your higher-educated Marines from middle to upper-middle class on the front lines; because those folks choose to be there. Most folks who go to get jobs skills and education money usually stay “in the rear with the gear”
