Speechless

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on May 10, 2006 at 11:48 am

Just got done reading this story (background here), and for the first time in a while I am simply speechless.

The US Border Patrol is alerting Mexican authorities to the whereabouts of the Minutemen.

I don’t know whether to scream or cry. Or both at the same time.

I say we hold investigations and hold recall (this from a Californian) elections of anyone who supports or created such rules.

I’ve heard the minutemen interviewed on this subject twice now and they are being harrassed, surveilled, told of their whereabouts to the mexican authorities and they have been AWARE of it for some time but didn’t have concrete proof until now.

    2. stoo says:

Agents of the US government are conducting warrantless surveillance against private citizens who are exercising their constitutionally protected right to peaceable assemby, and reporting the results of that surveillance to agents of a foreign government?

Aldrich Ames wants a new trial.

    3. Baklava says:

Nobody said warrantless nor did they say phone tapping.

Yes. Al Qaida wants a trial. They need to establish their rights to communicate without being surveilled….

    4. Bak, I think stoo was talking about the surveillance of the Minutemen, not AQ.

    5. stoo says:

      1. Indeed, who said anything about either Al Qaeda, or wiretapping?

      2. Are you suggesting the BP had warrants and/or the lawful instruction to report to the Mexican government?

    6. - When I saw this reported on FOX yesterday I had to blink for a minute,l not sure what I had heard was true. If its true we have to start wondering if everyone is on the same page any longer in this country. I know Bush has referred to the Minute-men as vigilantes, but I assumed that was just rhetoric for the masses, that he’d correct as soon as he saw that 92% of Americans are adiment about wanting strong border enforcement. The Admin seems to be ignoring the very strong desires of the public on this, as is both Political parties, and most of Congress. Why? It makes no sense. They are worrying about losing the sleeping midget of Hispanic votes, when they should really be worried about awakening the 260 ton Dragon of American voters.

If Homeland Defense is busy undermining the efforts at border control, the adminsitration is going to have the first real rebellion among the Conservative base that could make the 23 “AnythingGate” scams run by the Lie’beral press and moonbat left look like a Sunday school picnic.

When did the people of this country declare that we wanted to surrender to everybody?

This smacks of treason! After all, if it’s okay to report the peaceful activities of citizens to a foreign power like Mexico, why is it wrong to do so when the American is an agent trying to discover information vital to our national security?

There’s no difference! It’s still treason to disclose! Somebody needs to be charged and tried!

    8. Doug says:

The BP is covering up,the reporter stands by her story, another official says it isn’t true…this is why grand jurys are empanneled-to get to the truth. Unless the Mexican government has their own border watch going on, it’s hard to understand how the locations of the MM could be posted on the Mexican government website unless their positions were being shared by the BP surveil.
This stinks bad, and the truth needs to come out Now.

    9. WTF, over? 3 Marine NCO’s accompanying a fallen comrade through the Philly,(brotherly love?), airport in their dress blues, are searched, with jackets, belts, and shoes off; to be sure they are not terrorists? How many ragheads with bomb-making skills were among last nights wetbacks that got into our country? “Telling the Mexican government the location of our civilian border surveillance groups is to protect the rights of the illegal immigrants.” WHAT? WTF! I didn’t know that ILLEGAL Immigrants had any rights. Since when? Since Gitmo terrorists got rights?
Sure are providing me with plenty of design ideas for my cafepress shop! I would prefer that we handle this $hit and that I have to look elsewhere for design themes. While I voted for this administration, I must say that I am baffled by much of the domestic policy.
On a better note- Alabama has laws that requires state and local law enforcement to enforce existing federal immigration law. Makes me want to move from Jeb’s state to Alabama.
Also, don’t know whether to scream or cry!

      Insanity…

    11. benning says:

F.O. I’m stayin’ out, here in FL, but I know exactly whatcha mean!

    12. PCD says:

      Somebody needs to be fired.

    13. Tyrmadris says:

Oh well. The Minutemen are also working with private citizens to build a wall. You know, the same one that most politicans won’t even consider? Privately owned fences on privately-owned land can’t really be stopped. A truly American concept, the people doing what needs to be done when the government chooses not to take action.

What I wonder is… are these Minutemen wandering on our side or the Mexican side? If the latter, are the Mexican patrols actually going onto American soil? Or are they just telling the immgirants they are escorting where to go ahead of time?

    14. ArizonaTeach says:

The media out here in Arizona hates hates hates the Minutemen. To hear the stories on them, the only reason they’re patroling the border is because the weather got too hot for white hoods and they needed a break from a good cross burning. This story hit yesterday and local talk radio HIT THE ROOF. I heard the denials, and I’m sure there’s more to the story, but holy Christ, this looks bad for the border patrol. This might be the issue that finally knocks Miss High and Mighty Governor from her throne. God willing.

    15. AT! Good to see you – long time no ‘talk’ to.

    16. - Brit Hume just did report on it, mentioning both Michelle Malkins post and the fact that the BP spokesman responded to questions about the accuracy in a way that does not question the original contentions. The only complaint on the part of the BP responder was the article neglected to mention the Geneva convention angle, which is just a deflection tactic, and has nothing to do with the original main story points. The fact remains they have no other way to explain how the Mexican Border authority web site is able to post the times and locations of Minutemen groups unless either the border people are giving them the information, or Mexico is conducting illegal survalience inside American borders.

      - Wonder how obstinately the drive-by media will try to ignore this scandal. It would be interesting to hear from the Minutemen leadership to get any answers they may have in this mess.

    17. - Well that was not very informative, or rather maybe it was damning. Just watched a BP leader on FOX’s O’Reilly. At first he denied any complicity in giving information to the PGI, Mexicos version of our Border operations unit, then he turned around and started in on a long winded “explanation” of all the information they pass along, and under what circumstances, and one of the things that caught my attention, was something Michelle Malkin had brought up. this so called Geneva conference aggreement with Mexico to “Re4port anyone held, stopped or detained by an american citizen, which is a nice B***S*** way to cover your ass. So the instances they do most of this “information” exchange is w2hen people like the Minutemen report, or detain someone. Wonderful. this just absolutely sucks, and its a clever way to undermine even the most rudimentary border survalence. O’Reilly tended to soft ball it for some reason, and the guy that spoke was a bit overwrought. One question he couldn’t answer is why the Border Patrol Officers union head said when asked; “Of course they’re doing it – they admitted it at first and now they’re doing the usual “Washington spin”. the spokesman absolutely declined to respond to any questions as to the Union heads statements or what motive he’d have to lie. The guy looked very “prepared”, and coached. I’m not buying it.

    19. benning says:

Tyrmadris: Groups in Mexican Army uniforms have been on US soil, in more than one location, at more than one time. They have been armed. To date I know of no actions our government has taken to stop this or punish the Mexicans.

What reason these groups have had to be here, I don’t know. Drug smuggling, people smuggling? Who knows?
