American Muslims “concerned” with Bush’s use of the term “Islamic fascists”
Seems the President’s characterization of Islamic terrorists as “Islamic fascists” has riled up US Muslims who are “concerned” that such a term could inflame sentiment against Islamists. Via Reuters:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Muslim groups criticized President George W. Bush on Thursday for calling a foiled plot to blow up airplanes part of a “war with Islamic fascists,” saying the term could inflame anti-Muslim tensions.
U.S. officials have said the plot, thwarted by Britain, to blow up several aircraft over the Atlantic bore many of the hallmarks of al Qaeda.
“We believe this is an ill-advised term and we believe that it is counter-productive to associate Islam or Muslims with fascism,” said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations advocacy group.
We ought to take advantage of these incidents to make sure that we do not start a religious war against Islam and Muslims,” he told a news conference in Washington.
“We urge him (Bush) and we urge other public officials to restrain themselves.”
ROTFL! If that isn’t the height of chutzpah I don’t know what is! The Brits just foiled a terrorist plot that could have caused massive loss of life, perhaps even made 9-11 pale in comparison, and these clowns want to urge Bush and other public officials trying to combat such plots to restrain themselves?

Mind you, the President has also said we’re at war with “radical Islam” “extremist Islamists” and the like, but now that he uses the term “fascist” alongside the word “Islamic” he’s crossed the line and “needs to be restrained”?
If the President read this blog I’d offer this advice: Tell the whiners at CAIR that you don’t “CAIR” anymore what they think of the terms you use to describe Islamofascists. And certainly do not apologize. Tell them that they need to get a hold on their Muslim brothers and restrain them from planning and committing terrorist attacks- like 9-11, 3-11, 7/7, the hundreds of thousands of other terrorists attacks committed by Islamofascists around the world, etc, because that’s what stirs up anti-Muslim sentiment, not the apt term “Islamofascists.”

If the damn muslim groups like CAIR would quit pulling this PC BS about the use of the word MUSLIM when talking about terrorists, and DENOUNCE and CONDEMN such actions we might be a little farther ahead in getting rid of terrorism if Muslims take an active hand in turning their backs on those that kill the innocent.
By definition – Islam is a fascist religion. The Qur’an is not a difficult book to read and understand. Of course CAIR has lambasted people for actually quoting from their own “holy book”, so I guess that’s no real argument to them.

So CAIR’s feelings are hurt because the President tells it like it is? Here’s a bulletin for CAIR: it’s not an organized gang of Lutherans trying to blow up planes. It isn’t a murderous cult of Amish sawing people’s heads off. It isn’t a crazed fanatical Hindu cell or suicidal Jewish cabal bombing embassies around the world. IT’S MUSLIMS DOING ALL OF THAT. Now, CAIR may look on mass murder with a ‘boys will be boys’ attitude, but most Americans take a dim view of it.
Want to get on the good side of the rest of America? Start by being Americans FIRST. When these fanatics commit some atrocity, or are (thankfully) caught before they can commit one, CONDEMN THEM (see Sanity’s post above). And I don’t mean some mealy-mouthed half-hearted miserable excuse of a press release. I mean something forceful. Don’t give ANYONE a reason to question whose side you’re on.
Then you might think about taking a proactive role in ending Islamofacism. If a terror cell is festering in a mosque, go to the authorities. CAIR claims that your average, man-in-the-street Muslim is as loyal as anyone? Great…then it should be no problem for the vast majority of Muslims to clean up the mosques.
Want to make sure there’s no “religious war against Islam”? Then you damn well better out-Bush Bush in going after the Islamofascists. And don’t be afraid to use that word when you do it.

You know, it’s unfortunate that an entire group can be held as suspicious because of a small portion of their own, but that’s human nature. The black community, for sure, still suffers from it. But it seems to me, that if you are a member of such a group, that you’d want to make sure that the world doesn’t make such a mistake, and do all you can to separate yourself from those making trouble, as well as clean your own house of them. The law abiding Muslims have a real stake in proving their claims of hating terror by doing more to help fight it. Exposing those among them would be a great start. Not defending them in any way would help as well.
