It wasn’t pretty, but we’ll take it. The Panthers are now 1-2, and the Bucs 0-3.
Steve Smith, BTW, returned and had 7 catches for 112 yards. Former Buc Keyshawn Johnson had two TDs.
Next Sunday’s game will be played here in Charlotte vs. the Saints. Game time is 1 PM ET. The Saints are 2-0 and play a visiting Atlanta tomorrow night at 7:30 PM ET.

In other sports news, are you ready for Major League Baseball post season play? Detroit Tigers fans have a reason to celebrate. Today they clinched a playoff berth for the first time in almost 20 years. On the other hand, things aren’t looking so good for my Braves, who are 18.5 games back from the leader in their division (NL East): the Mets, and don’t look good in the NL Wildcard hunt, either ![]()

ST: As a life-long Dallas Cowboy fan, you and I may have to declare a temporary war on October 29. What say ye?
In other (off-topic) news, the National Bush Derangement Syndrome Coalition has just announced that Friday 13th will be National BDS Positive Day. Let us all show support for those suffering from BDS by displaying a tinfoil ribbon on our vehicles.
LOL MD – before we moved to Charlotte (when I was a little girl) I was a Dallas fan. Had a crush on Roger Staubach and wanted to be a DC cheerleader. When we moved to Charlotte, I became a 49rs fan because Dwight Clark is from Charlotte
Still a 9er fan, but the Panthers are now my top guys.
I don’t think I could ever declare war with you on anything, MD! You’re too cool to be at war with
Well….with such kind words, how can I go to war with you?
But a 49er fan – well, that means we have some serious de-programming ahead. Repeat after me: Joe Montana is the Antichrist, the referees were paid off (with Halliburton money, probably), and Dwight Clark pushed off in the end zone.
Hey, how about those NY Giants? Maybe someone could tell them that they are allowed to play during the first 3 quarters as well and don’t have to wait until the 4th quarter before they start trying to win.
Anyway, the Yankees are going to the playoffs! (I know, I know, “speaking of the Antichrist”)
Soon the Rangers will take to the ice……life is good.
OK, it’s like this: the White Sox need perfect alignment of the stars as well as supernatural influence to pull the season out of their hindquarters. I won’t hold my breath, but at least it was taken away last year. But da Bears have managed to hold off the Vikes improved defense to remain unbeaten, and best of all, 3-0 against the division. Thus, the pain of baseball will be soothed by the continued success of da Bears.
I was born in Chicago, glad to see the Bears doing well and the ChiSox win last year!
Hey, Life is good. Brett Farve finally understood that team means using the people on your team, not trying to do it all yourself. No INTs this game.
Hey, say a prayer for Chris Simms. Morning Drudge Report had a link to him being in the hospital and having his spleen removed. He’ll be out 4 to 6 weeks and that is not counting time to heal to football playing shape.
I hated to hear that about Simms. As a Giant fan his father, Phil, is a football legend to us. I hope his son fares as well.
