   I saw this one on the front page of USA Today’s business section on Friday:

   More employers recruit the military work ethic

   OK, I’m confused here. I hope someone here can help.

   Here’s part of the article:

   “When you look at our employee base and you see the guys who are very conscientious, who are always early for work, who are clean-cut, have a smile on their face, get the job done and just have a great attitude, many of those guys come from the military,” says Jeff Owens, president of Advanced Technology Services in Peoria, Ill.

   I don’t see how this can be. After all, we all know that the people who join the military are just losers who have no prospects, potential, or opportunity. No less an authority than Charlie Rangel’s been telling us that. And he’s got to be wrong about the veterans being conscientious. John Kerry Himself told us how only those people who don’t work hard go into the military. So how could these veterans be successful? I know that they could always succeed by marrying ketchup heiresses, but there aren’t that many available.

   Can anyone explain the apparent contradiction here??

   Well, GWR, it’s like this. If you look carefully at the quote that you used, there are subliminal messages all over the place.

   To help you, I recorded the quote in question on a CD-ROM and played it backwards to decode the true meaning.

   Here is the actual message:

   “When you look at our employee base and you see the guys who are racist homophobic Gaia-destroying global warming-denying chickenhawk neocons, who are agitating for a Christianist theocracy, who dress in white robes and hoods and burn crosses, have human blood dripping from their 6″ fangs, outsource jobs to India and vote for tax cuts, many of those guys come from the military” says Ken Lay, Grand Wizard of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

   I hope this clears up your confusion. Should you come across any more quotes that depart from Liberalism’s True Shining Path of Progressive Wisdom, I will be happy to re-program you.
