Thomas Sowell’s three-part series on ‘global warming’

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on February 19, 2007 at 6:40 pm

Anyone who has every read anything by the great Thomas Sowell knows he can pick apart supposed ‘facts’ like no other, and see through the spin of the ‘anointed’ (aka the left) better than anyone.

Last week, Sowell published a three part series of articles on what he calls “Global Hot Air” – the links are listed below:

Global Hot Air 1
Global Hot Air 2
Global Hot Air 3

Consider them primers on global warming skepticism as well as exposés on global warming alarmism.

Even the IPCC can’t seem to be in agreement either.

But then again, the debate is over eh?

Approximately 125,000 years ago, the Earth was around three to five degrees Celsius warmer on average than it is today and sea levels were four to six meters higher. The ice sheets covering Greenland’s land mass have trapped a significant amount of that water that used to be in the sea, thereby lowering sea levels, Susan Solomon, senior scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (and the co-chair of the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) told attendees at the American Association for the Advancement of Science taking place in San Francisco.

By the way, this statement is from the CO-CHAIR of the recent IPCC report, not so lowly scientist that people ae going to paint as being paid by big oil, or nuts because he/she disagree.

I do like this quote though:

If the land ice on Greenland were to melt completely, the sea levels could rise six or seven meters again, but the current scientific models indicate it will take thousands of years. Both land and sea ice around Greenland are currently melting. (Sea ice is also melting, but it doesn’t raise sea levels because it’s already in the water.)

The ice is melting…..but since it is alreeady in the ater it won’t raise the sea level.

But again, most are going to read this and still scoff, BUT what they are not taking into consideration is:

“It would take centuries, if not millennia, to get a four to six meter rise” in sea levels, she said. Global temperatures would have to be raised by 1.9 to 4.6 degrees Celsius and be kept that way for several centuries, she added.

Do you believe for this to happen, that the GLOBAL temperatures can be raised by 1.9 to 4.6 degrees Celsius and STAY that way for several centuries for the effects they predict to happen?

  2. Thanks for posting those. I’ve got a series of posts on the global warming hysteria, and I usually add Sowell’s pieces. I really respect that man.

  3. Sorry, forgot to link what I had today: Global Warming and Eugenics, as well as another Reuters hype story.

I have long ago decided that Global Warming is a religious diatribe by the left. They do not want debate, but to dictate from their consensus.
