Tuesday open thread

This has turned into a busy day for me – will check back in later this evening.

Evening Update: Real life intrudes. I’m trying to get some maintenance done on my mom’s computer tonight and things aren’t going so well. Been one of those nights (long story). If I can get things fixed, I’ll be back later tonight to tell you what a hellacious evening it’s been and about the jerk neighbor I’ve come to realize I have.

Now know where the Democrats’ strategy for the War on Terror originated.

    They’re simply channeling Marx.

    Groucho, not Karl.

Sounds exactly like Pelosi or Murtha, doesn’t it? :d

Did anybody see the Playboy interview with Bill Maher this month? In it Bill Maher calls Obama “articulate”!!!! OH MY GOD!!! IT’S TIME FOR THE OUTRAGE AND PROTESTS!!!!! Or is it……….

  3. LOL. Can the interview be read in any other magazine? ;)

Let me guess; it’s a Dell. :) Seriously, though my dad has had a lot of luck with his Dells, my sister and her fiance have had heaps of problems with theirs. In fact, once I pick up a SATA cable, I have to run Norton Ghost (well, the follow-on to it at least) on his so I can move everything to a replacement drive Dell sent him and see if that solves his unmountable boot volume problems.

Sometimes it’s a real pain to be the techie in the family. :">

Argh, solving other people’s computer problems. I have a t-shirt that says “No, I will not fix your computer.” Sometimes you have to do it though, for relatives and dear friends. It’s always fun to try and unwind the Gordian Knot that non-techies manage to get their PCs wound up in isn’t it? “Why did you click on that!!!?!?!?!” “Well, it looked interesting.” Viruses, spyware, corrupted registries, etc. ad nauseum. “I have virus protection, I think…” “Well, when’s the last time you updated it?” “I have to update it?” ARGH!

Hope it works out well ST. I can relate. My father-in-law is still waiting for me to go up for a visit to hook his DVD player to his new plasma TV. It’s three cables dude…oh never mind.

=))Yeah, I can see your point. Everybody hates lawyers until they need one, and one that they think is “free” is needed most of all. I bet you want to just crawl under the couch.
