VIDEO: The “Great Global Warming Swindle”

I blogged last week about an explosive documentary being aired by the UK’s Channel 4 called “The Great Global Warming Swindle” and it understandably has alarmists upset. Good.

Anway, here’s video of the program, courtesy of Powerline.

In the latest gw news, there are fresh allegations of threats being issued against global warming skeptics. Via the UK Telegraph:

Scientists who questioned mankind’s impact on climate change have received death threats and claim to have been shunned by the scientific community.

They say the debate on global warming has been “hijacked” by a powerful alliance of politicians, scientists and environmentalists who have stifled all questioning about the true environmental impact of carbon dioxide emissions.

Timothy Ball, a former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg in Canada, has received five deaths threats by email since raising concerns about the degree to which man was affecting climate change.

One of the emails warned that, if he continued to speak out, he would not live to see further global warming.

“Western governments have pumped billions of dollars into careers and institutes and they feel threatened,” said the professor.

“I can tolerate being called a sceptic because all scientists should be sceptics, but then they started calling us deniers, with all the connotations of the Holocaust. That is an obscenity. It has got really nasty and personal.”

Last week, Professor Ball appeared in The Great Global Warming Swindle, a Channel 4 documentary in which several scientists claimed the theory of man-made global warming had become a “religion”, forcing alternative explanations to be ignored.

Richard Lindzen, the professor of Atmospheric Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology – who also appeared on the documentary – recently claimed: “Scientists who dissent from the alarmism have seen their funds disappear, their work derided, and themselves labelled as industry stooges.

“Consequently, lies about climate change gain credence even when they fly in the face of the science.”

Dr Myles Allen, from Oxford University, agreed. He said: “The Green movement has hijacked the issue of climate change. It is ludicrous to suggest the only way to deal with the problem is to start micro managing everyone, which is what environmentalists seem to want to do.”

Hat tip: Cox and Forkum, whose cartoon on the issue says it all.

Yahoo! Finally some realistic perspectives. I suspected that hype was driving the AL Gore Inconvenient truth, and so it is.

Interesting article on the smear tactics of the pro-AGW minions:

See a scientist who dares to doubt that the world is frying so fast we’ll all die?

Then don’t answer his arguments with facts and reason. Smear him instead.

Claim he’s been bought off by Big Oil. Once worked for Big Coal. Spoke at a conservative think tank.

Anything to make him seem evil. To have . . . a vested interest.

The ABC’s Four Corners last month performed a perfect example of The Smear.

It ran a documentary vilifying 60 scientists and economists who signed a joint letter warning that many of the claims that man was causing the globe to heat dangerously were dubious.

Four Corners did not tackle their arguments. Instead, we watched a PR man, James Hoggan, declare: “We looked into the folks who were on that (list), and all but 19 were Americans and most of them are kind of infamous characters from the States who worked for the tobacco industry.”

In fact, only 12 were Americans and at most two had done science work on tobacco. Nor did Four Corners reveal Hoggan had a vested interest of his own — not only did he sit on the board of the extreme green David Suzuki Foundation, but he made a PR living flogging big-money schemes to “solve” global warming.

Dying vegetation and leaves=old growth forests=Carbon dioxide output…..who’da thunk it!
