Friday open thread
I’m getting this one started a little early as most of the day tomorrow I’ll be away from the computer. In fact, the next couple of days I’ll primarily be blogging in the evening as ‘real life is intruding’ (how dare it do that! 
).
Here’s your Thursday night video flashback. These days this song is called a “classic” (you know you’re getting old when …) Any Simple Minds fans out there? You’ll recognize this one. Love it. Even more so than “Don’t You Forget About Me”:

Thanks ST! I may be dating myself, but Simple Minds was one of my favs back in the day. Their best songs IMO, are Promised You a Miracle and Someone, Somewhere, Summertime. Lyrically, they were always so much deeper than most of the fluff from that era.

Maybe we need to have the alarmists sit in with the class so the 6th graders can teach them something….but then again, I wouldn’t want the 6th graders called names, threatened, ect because of their views.

S.T., I’m a little disappointed that you haven’t shown the video that I brought to your attention!!! How can you dare ignore a vocal genius like William Shatner!!! He’s better than all the 80’s bands put together!! His “interpretations” of Rocket man, Mr. Tambourine man, and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds are nothing short of pure genius, GENIUS I SAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Evan Sayet is a member of an endangered species: a Hollywood conservative. A few weeks ago, he addressed the Heritage Foundation on the subject of “How Liberals Think”. The video is on YouTube, and it’s fascinating.
His main point is that liberals are taught early in life not to make judgments; therefore any rational and moral thought is an act of bigotry. From there he goes into how that leads liberals invariably to side with evil against good, why liberals hate successful people, why something like Abu Graib could be front page news for months, and why liberals aren’t really ‘progressives’, as they like to call themselves.
The whole thing is about 45 minutes long. If you’ve got the time, I highly recommend it. You’ll get some insight into why libs do some of the things they do.
