President set to veto Iraq cut and run bill

… and will address the nation shortly after 6 Eastern Time to explain why to the people who don’t already know.

Via Bryan at Hot Air: “Just heard from Tony Snow that President Bush will announce at 6:10 pm tonight that he will veto the war funding bill. He will transmit that veto to Congress tomorrow.”

Update I: It’s official:

Bush signed the veto with a pen given to him by Robert Derga, the father of Marine Corps Reserve Cpl. Dustin Derga, who was killed in Iraq on May 8, 2005. The elder Derga spoke with Bush two weeks ago at a meeting the president had with military families at the White House.

Derga, whose son was with a unit from Columbus, Ohio, asked Bush to promise to use the pen in his veto. On Tuesday, Derga contacted the White House to remind Bush to use the pen, and so he did.

Sweet.

      Ah, yes, the Democratic Party. The party that shows more respect to Syria and Iran than the President.

      Gosh there’s not telling what kind of great things will happen if they get the White House.

      In other Democrat news we have this:

      California Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D) chairs the Senate Rules Committee, but she’s also a Cardinal. She is currently chairwoman of the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies subcommittee, but until last year was for six years the top Democrat on the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies (or “Milcon”) sub-committee, where she may have directed more than $1 billion to companies controlled by her husband.

      If the inferences finally coming out about what she did while on Milcon prove true, she may be on the way to morphing from a respected senior Democrat into another poster child for congressional corruption.

      The problems stem from her subcommittee activities from 2001 to late 2005, when she quit. During that period the public record suggests she knowingly took part in decisions that eventually put millions of dollars into her husband’s pocket — the classic conflict of interest that exploited her position and power to channel money to her husband’s companies.

      In other words, it appears Sen. Feinstein was up to her ears in the same sort of shenanigans that landed California Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham (R) in the slammer. Indeed, it may be that the primary difference between the two is basically that Cunningham was a minor leaguer and a lot dumber than his state’s senior senator.

      Waiting for this to hit the NYT and other MSM outlets any day now…:-w

      Did Biden actually say that he was going to start to cut funding for the new APC?? This is how you support the Marines whose lifes could be saved by this piece of equipment Mr. Biden?? These guys do own defeat, and they honestly believe that the more body bags the better they will do in the elections. I thank God for outlets like this one that ensures garbage like this is seen by the public.

      pjb, here’s what he said (per Ben Smith):

      Biden is asked what he’ll do when Bush, as is expected, vetoes the Iraq funding bill.

      First, he talks about his son, and the equipment soldiers need — “The idea that we’re not building new Humvees with the V-shaped things is just crap. Kids are dying that don’t have to die.”

      And: “Second thing is, we’re going to shove it down his throat.”

      On the countdown, at 22 seconds he says he is going to “take out that money for those MRADS”. They are going to cut the funding for the military. Then he talks about not building them. But we won’t be building them because him and his buddies are pulling the funding. – Lorica

      You can bet the farm you ain’t gonna hear anything about diane and joe biden’s statements on the msm.
      I did not hear it on the 5 A.M. nbc news so far.
      Who does biden think he is? What a piece of work.
