MILWAUKEE — A former alderman and controversial radio talk show host said he’s happy the mother of his radio rival is dead.
Michael McGee Sr. made the comments during his radio show on WNOV-AM Thursday morning. Charlie Sykes is a radio talk show host on WTMJ-AM. Sykes’ mother, Katherine B. Sykes, died in a house fire Tuesday. The Ozaukee County Coroner said Thursday that Sykes died of smoke inhalation [Read Story].

McGee and Sykes have been publically battling for years, but even in the world of talk radio, some are saying the comments made are extreme.
“Mother Sykes, she dead. To me it’s the vengeance of God. I ain’t got no tears. Matter of fact a woman that would have a fool like that deserve whatever is coming her. She raised a sure enough idiot,” McGee said on his radio show. “My instincts say Charlie Sykes killed his momma, cuz she live out in this big palace in Mequon all isolated. He got tired of waiting for her money.”
McGee’s comments came about 15 minutes into his show. He went on for about five minutes and then moved on to a different topic, but later in the show a caller asked about it.
“Mike McGee Senior,” the caller began, “You really don’t mean that, about your enemies families members being dead — killed.”
“Man, you don’t think I mean that, man, you out of your mind,” McGee replied.
Here’s McGee’s page at the WNOV site.
If you live in Wisconsin and haven’t weighed in on McGee’s comments yet, let the station know how you feel about them. This is absolutely reprehensible.
I should note that their contact link on their site as of right now just takes you back to ther main page (likely done on purpose this week), but I found the original link here:

This radio guy is a creep. Does anyone remember Howard Stern going after Pat Nixon on the day she died? It was very similar.
Had Howard Stern been fired and taken off the air back then, it would have set a proper example of what is acceptable/non-acceptable conduct. Yes, we have free speech in this country. But some company with advertisers is paying these jerks to say the things they say.
If these companies and their advertisers condone their behavior, it is the responsibility of decent people to let these companies know that this stuff won’t be tolerated. Either by no longer buying their products, or by calling, emailing in and letting them know your opinion.
The fact that Howard Stern is still on the air today and getting richer by the minute, makes me wonder if maybe the decent people are now in the minority. As goes from my recent post elsewhere, I don’t care about the politics of this radio host. He’s a creep.
How long will it take before that fat asshole gets ‘Imus-ed’? Or will that pass because the object of his hatred is white and he is black?
Double-standard once again?
You have to know that McGee, Jr. is a Milwaukee Democrat who was up for recall. This family is Wisconsin’s version of the McKinney family of Georgia. Remember “Slap the Cops” Cynthia? Same mold.
Charlie Sykes had subbed for Rush a few times before Rush switched to Mark Belling.
Some good news – Per the Marquette Warrior, McGee/Jackson Sr. (at least we think the real family name is Jackson) was not on the air today and will not be on the air Monday. WNOV President/CEO Jerrel Jones, who earlier termed the comments “absolutely across the line”, said that a decision whether to fire Sr. will come tomorrow.
Likely bad news – Milwaukee’s black community loves the McGee/Jacksons. Just the most-recent example; “Jr.” (who may or may not be adopted; yet another McGee/Jackson controversy) handily survived the recall effort against him, which stemmed from his use of two Social Security numbers using both his real name and the McGee name. Jr. went on to advocate throwing bricks at speeders (evoking old memories of his father calling for both the sniping of white commuters and blocking the freeways with burning tires back in the late 1980s and early 1990s while he was alderman in Milwaukee).
For more reading (ableit incomplete because the McGee/Jackson family has done so much outrageous stuff over the decades), I recommend searching for McGee on Badger Blogger.
Forgot to mention a couple of things (as I’m still catching up on this after a couple-day allergy break)
- Pete Fanning of PeteRepublic is all over this. There’s a whole host of links there.
- Fred at RealDebateWisconsin reports Jr. took over Sr’s paid infomercial spot today (that’s right, Sr pays Jerrel Jones for his access). Why am I not surprised?
Thanks for the updates, steve!
One more update (with a hat tip to Cantakerous at Ask Me Later) – the local Fox affiliate scored a choice interview with Sr that has to be seen to be believed.
Makes Imus look like a sweet little ol lady.
