Want to help an Iraqi man immigrate to the US?

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on May 4, 2007 at 6:02 pm

ST reader Karl blogs about an Iraqi man who worked as a translator in Iraq, helping the US understand and interrogate Iraqis, who wants to immigrate to the US but is running into some red tape:

A prime example is Alaa, a young Iraqi whom Bryan Suits (KVI 570am) spent a lot of time working with in Iraq a while back. Alaa was helping Bryan’s unit translate and interrogate people in Iraq. His actions there showed him to be a man of good character, and he was invaluable in helping our troops.

He is also a trained Pharmacist, something our country has a shortage of. In short he can fill a necessary and useful role in American society, and unlike the illegals, cannot just jog over the line and then demand citizenship.

He has to contend with a US Visa policy in Iraq that had limited slots for persons helping the military because he wants to come here legally.

To find out more on what you can do to help, read the rest of Karl’s post here.

I have already sent an e-mail to the contact on the story as well as fired one off to Congressman Howard Coble.

I hope everyone who reads this will take the time to send a simple e-mail that could make a big difference in that young man’s life. I can tell you from experience that these translators risk their very lives just to work for America. Without them, we would not stand a chance to win this war.

Bryan Suits, the radio host is also the guy who made the video tape, he is a National Guard Lt who (unlike Watada) deployed and served in Iraq for a year.

Bryan, in numerous conversations, said exactly the same thing as NC Cop, that they risk a lot to help us over there.

    Thanks for posting this ST!

I will do the same NC Cop and if others who help us need a place to stay in the US my door will be open to em till they get settled in.

I got a return e-mail from the Captain saying that his paperwork has been forwarded. Coble’s office gave me some information on other department’s that might help. Stay tuned!!!!!!!!
