Here’s the story, via MSNBC.
Allah’s keeping track of the Nutroots commentary coming from the likes of Think Progress, DU, etc here.
Ah! Feel that liberal “compassion”! ![]()

You can see the sheer hypocrisy of the left in how they are handling Fallwell’s passing.
I don’t think a one of the DU, Kos, or other lefty posters are walking with Jesus.
Honestly I’m of two minds about Falwell. I know that he was a devout Christian, but I had so many problems with his statements that I lost a lot of respect for him as a person. I wish the best for his family during this loss.
It pains me to say that Rev. Falwell became an embarrasment for the conservative movement.
He was an easy target for the heathen left media and they used this good man as a punching bag every chance they had. That being said he did not do himself any favors toward the end.
But in the early 80’s he woke up a good cross section of God fearing Americans and for that he will be revered and remembered as a truly great conservative American citizen.
In my mind his positives far outweighed his negatives.
Rest in peace Rev. Falwell.
I believe that, in the fullness of time, Rev Falwell’s most meaningful legacy to the world will be Liberty University. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Holw cow, they’re not even waiting until his body cools. This is the crap that pisses me off. If Micheal Moore died tomorrow I’d certainly show more class than many on the right are showing…
What a bunch of
PCD, I’ll bet you’ve never met a liberal person in your life.
The liberals’ hate-filled comments on many, many blogs are disgusting and have really angered me. This proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that the “tolerance” liberals claim to have a monopoly on is a clearcut sham and their “love” is a perversion and delusion they have. They only love and have tolerance for themselves and their own kind. They practice an evil form of prejudice wrapped in the skin of hypocrisy. And for that they condemn themselves and their kind. I pity them.
Why of course not jaxebad, they don’t allow liberals into our sealed compounds. The keep us conservatives isolated so we don’t get “contaminated.”
Grow up. A lot of our problems and opinions, and our distaste, come from rubbing up against liberals on a daily basis. We also get a daily dose of it on all the mainstream media outlets. Unlike liberals in such the wonderfully blue enclaves and hallowed halls of academia, who are much more isolated. Just how “diverse” is your community? Your circle of “friends.”
Where do you come up with such nonsense?
Severian,
If you meet them everyday, do you say to their faces what you say on the blogs? Or are you like a lot of people; nice to people when you’re talking with them, and then harsh on the blogs?
By the way, I grew up in North Dakota, so don’t give me that tired old line about being stuck in an enclave.
Like most rational people jax, I don’t often discuss politics in public. It’s kind of like farting, it only makes people uncomfortable no matter how much it relieves you. I do fairly often have to suffer from some annoying diatribes from the more leftist people I run into. You’ll be proud of me though, I don’t slap them silly even though they desperately need it. In my experience it’s the liberals that seem to need to constantly spew about their politics and how eviiil Bush/Cheney are. I usually just look at them like they are speaking Swahili and they mostly just wander off with that dazed and confused look so typical of the species.
North Dakota eh. OK so you molest small furry animals instead of living in an enclave, that better? Where you grew up isn’t important, I notice you don’t mention where you live now, enclave perhaps?
Two of my oldest friends are libs. I tell them how wrong they are any time a political discussion arises. Someone has to.
As for the the good Reverend, I cannot fathom the depths of hatred by so many toward this fine gentleman. It might be worse than BDS! Here’s a man who clearly put God first in all he did. His statements over which so many get the vapors, are generally his personal speculations, not a statement of fact. He was not the type to assume he knew the mind of God. If he said that God may have lifted His protection of our nation due to the immorality rampant in our society, and left it at that, it’s quite possible he’d never have taken so much heat. But because he listed the examples of immorality that he did, that’s what put so many lib undies in bunches. He should have said it was our greed, and then libs would stand beside him. But those groups he listed are indeed, from a Biblical perspective, immorality made acceptable and it’s that acceptance, tolerance or national shrugging of shoulders that would justify God’s actions as described by Falwell. But the lefty world, and some on the right, act as if he said that without a doubt God acted for the reasons Jerry listed and 9/11 happened. Personally, his speculations about why it happened are as good as any I’ve heard, and better than the lefty notion that we brought it upon ourselves for siding with Israel or whatever.
Back to the topic at hand, his death is sad. Falwell was a long way from being my favorite person, I had major disagreements with much of his ideology, though not all, however this isn’t the time to get into that IMO. He was important and had an effect on the world larger than most, and even though I often disagreed with him I never remotely felt the kind of hatred and acrimony I’ve seen expressed on the leftist sites.
He was outspoken and often stepped in what he said but he was a man of God and a real reverend, unlike al and jessah who the left holds up as their idols, kinda like brazen gold ones Moses warned about.
I pray for him and his family.
