56 days and counting

56 days since Senator Jim Inhofe challenged Al Gorius Maximus to take the “Personal Energy Pledge” – which states the following:

We know this about Gore’s energy consumption:

Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

Gosh. You’d figure that with the need so urgent for us to all ‘do our parts’ to turn back the clock on “man-made global warming” that Al would commit to a pledge to use no more energy than the average household, just to show he’s not a hypocrite. :-"

The clock is ticking, Mr. Prophet.

Meanwhile, here’s some bad news for Al and the other gw profiteers:: Prominent Scientists Reverse Belief in Man-made Global Warming – Now Skeptics (hat tip: ST reader Steve)

Yikes! He doesn’t look too happy about this, doesn’t he? *ST backs away slowly from the The Goracle*

Expect Al Gore’s “digital brownshirts” to show up any second now and start wailing the same tired rhetoric. Big Oil, everybody agrees, except for the ones that don’t, and we got’em outnumbered! (puts on best Yul Brenner voice) Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. More worshiping of the IPCC, more shrieks of how dare we insult the Goracle by expecting him to practice what he preaches.

The pattern is all too predictable unfortunately. The backlash is beginning though, even though most people are gullible as sheep, eventually they will get the drift. AGW has been so oversold it’s starting to get the blowback it deserves, you can only pee on people’s heads and tell them it’s raining for so long before even the densest figures it out.

For those of you overly enamored of the IPCC and it’s “expert” scientists, you know, the ones who walk on water and are head and shoulders above the mere stupid mortals who doubt AGW:

THE IPCC AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION. EXAMPLE: IMPACTS ON HUMAN HEALTH

It’s long, and hasn’t been predigested into bumper sticker form. If you want a cutout of some of the more interesting facts, highlighted for your ease:

The authors also claimed that climate change was already causing malaria to move to higher altitudes (eg in Rwanda). They quoted information published by non-specialists that had been roundly denounced in the scientific literature. In the years that followed, these claims have repeatedly been made by environmental activists, despite rigorous investigation and overwhelming counter-evidence by some of the world’s top malaria specialists.

In summary, the treatment of this issue by the IPCC was ill-informed, biased, and scientifically unacceptable.

These confident pronouncements, untrammelled by details of the complexity of the subject and the limitations of these models, were widely quoted as “the consensus of 1,500 of the world’s top scientists” (occasionally the number quoted was 2,500).

I also pointed out that one Lead Author is a “hygienist”, the other is a specialist in fossil faeces, and both have been co-authors on publications by environmental activists.

Oh Sev, you’ve done it now!!! I see a 100 message post coming on this one!!! :d

  4. Severian says:

I’m trying to get paid by the post NC! =))

  5. Severian says:

Wow. I just noticed that Gorezilla pays almost 4 times more for electricity for his “guest” house than I pay for electricity, water, sewer, and trash collection combined!!!

I suddenly feel so green! I deserve a medal or something! :d

  6. LOL Sev – who’da thought you were more green than the Goracle? :))

  7. Drewsmom says:

algore and fat ass moore with his latest farce Sicko should be room-mates, bet moore consumes mega energy and takes more drugs that us and Walgreen’s combined.=))
I am sick to death of global farse warming and I conserve on a Daily basis to save on my bills, duh, who doesn’t, except the SUPER RICH like algore and moore.

  8. Severian says:

LOL Sev – who’da thought you were more green than the Goracle?

Anyone who’s been downwind of me after a chili-burrito eating contest!

Hey, I know, I will sell Al some carbon credits from all that I’m not using! Al, have your people call my people, we’ll work something out! ;)

  9. Sunsettommy says:

Meanwhile President Bush lives in a real “green house”.

    The comparison is evident.

  10. # 9 says:

We have had some fun with Global Warming over at SayUncle.

    Here and here.

You need to get your free carbon offsets. Guaranteed to drive progressives crazy.

  11. David Walker says:

The global warming context has never been about the environemnt.

We live in a time when corporations and governments are uniting to exploit our collective ignorance and consent for the sake of power and money, like a bunch of money changers in an ancient synagogue. They’re creating the rules for us to live by for their own selfish gain, and trying to punish individuals and dissenters. It’s called fascism, similar to the rule of the Medici and the Doges, which inspired the likes of Mussolini. If you can’t wrap your mind around this new reality, then get out of the debate.

Global warming has never been about the environment — it’s about money and power. Read the Bible, or any other ancient religious text, or a comprehensive book on behavioral science in order to get more acquainted with yourself and those so-called “do-gooders” wishing to save us from ourselves.

If you don’t believe it, then you have a great deal to learn about human nature. The global warming context is a conspicuous FRAUD.

  12. Severian says:

Bingo, correct statement David. It’s never about saving the world, only controlling it. Human nature hasn’t changed in the 5000 years or so of recorded history, spend any time reading anything from ancient times and you’ll see that. Some may believe all we have to do is sit down and all sing kumbaya an it’ll all work out, but reality always intrudes on that fantasy.
