Friday open thread and announcement

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on July 20, 2007 at 12:15 am

Hi all,

I just got done putting together a piece of furniture and am exhausted. Now I know the reason why it doesn’t hurt to spend the extra money it takes to buy something already put together!

I have a dr. appointment today that is going to put me out of commission for a good bit of the day, so while I’m away, Brian at Iowa Voice, who did a fantastic job guestblogging for me last November (or was it October?) will take over the reigns Friday while I’m away. I may do some blogging Friday evening, but if not, I should be back Saturday.

Ya’ll be good ;) and TGIF!

Eric Edelman is my new hero. Anyone who has the courage to take on the Hildebeest and lay out in plain English exactly how her defeatist policies encourage al-Qaeda is, well, indispensable. The administration hasn’t been stellar in communicating what’s at stake in Iraq before, but Edelman didn’t mince words:

“Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies in Iraq, much as we are perceived to have done in Vietnam, Lebanon and Somalia,” Edelman wrote.

He added that “such talk understandably unnerves the very same Iraqi allies we are asking to assume enormous personal risks.”

In other words, Hillary, the Iraqi government can’t be expected to trust you when they can’t tell the difference between your press releases and Osama’s.

Especially when abandoning our Iraqi allies is exactly what you just tried to sneak through the Senate during your slumber party the other night.

Naturally, Hillary reacted with a hissy fit. :(( :(( And then threatened to tattle on him to his boss:

Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines called Edelman’s answer “at once outrageous and dangerous,” and said the senator would respond to his boss, Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

Suggestion for the President and the SecDef: back up Edelman. Don’t let the usual screeches of indignation from the left affect you. He’s right and he’s telling the world why you’re right.

I read that earlier GWR and wondered why he hasn’t been assassinated yet!

I second your closing paragraph. Appeasement may have a time and place for some things but it is not this issue and damn sure not now. The enemies of America and their Congressional allies need to hear in a manner that has the fire and robust dynamism that causes our enemies indubitable fear!

Placation of these screeching vote pandering imbeciles has done nothing BUT encourage them. Grab these casuistically afflicted fools by the throat of their speculative slander mills and shut their deceitful lying cake holes, with some seriously stalwart vigor!

Sound off like ya got a pair Mr. President! :-w

    Hitlary fights back!!!

“Undersecretary Edelman has his priorities backward,” Clinton wrote, calling his claim “outrageous and dangerous.”

I think for how “smart” your suppose to be you are a complete idiot. Does the stupidity never end with these people?? Let us say, GOD FORBID, that Hitlary becomes President. She decides it is time for our troops to come home. Well thanks to her there is a chance that the enemy will have our withdrawal plans in their hands. How many more of our troops is this woman going to get killed with her stupidity. But Don’t Question Her Patriotism!!! These people are completely clueless, I pray that they NEVER step into the roll of Commander in Chief. It is pretty apparent from her response that her priorities are the ones that are backwards. – Lorica

Aha….I knew there was a good reason ST had to visit a doctor today. She’s probably sick to her stomach from seeing this nonsense going on in her home town:

    Cindy Sheehan criticizes Charlotte police

Short version of the story: Cindy plans a BDS rally in Charlotte, but the Gathering of Eagles patriots show up in force to counterdemonstrate and be heard. To the leftists, any disagreement is by definition intimidation, because, you know, it makes them feel uncomfortable and unaccepted, and therefore it’s really, like, you know, hate speech and all.

So she had her lackeys go blubbering to the Charlotte police. The results?

She noted that the police, citing freedom of speech, refused to separate her group and its opponents, a national group called the Gathering of Eagles.

That lousy freedom of speech thing again. Cindy’s probably wondering why the whole world can’t be like an Ivy League campus, where only “correct” speech is permitted??

Faced with an audience not hand-picked to be 100% supportive, the future congressional candidate cravenly hid in her car (cut and run at the first sign of resistance – how typical of the left) and finally redeployed her rally to a friendly grocery store where she could be surrounded by her handful of supporters.

    Money quote from the article:

Most people who attended the event said they didn’t feel threatened or intimidated. But Sheehan supporters fault police for allowing their message to be drowned out by counterprotesters. :((:((

Never mind the fact that the left routinely employs violent tactics far worse than simply ‘drowning out’ dissent. The really scary part is that these people honestly believe the police should be silencing anyone who disagrees with them. Just a preview of coming attractions if these commissar wanna-be’s ever do get complete control of this country.

Absolutely GWR!!! Just ask the poor man about his Hummer. Same garbage the real Nazis use to do. Your ideas can’t stand the light of day or your to stupid to debate your ideas in a public forum, put on masks and use violence to silence your opposition. – Lorica
