Public enemy #1 resigning at the end of August

The WSJ reports:

Karl Rove, President Bush’s longtime political adviser, is resigning as White House deputy chief of staff effective Aug. 31, and returning to Texas, marking a turning point for the Bush presidency.

Mr. Rove’s departure removes one of the White House’s most polarizing figures, and perhaps signals the effective end of the lame duck administration’s role in shaping major domestic policy decisions. Mr. Rove revealed his plans in an interview with Paul Gigot, editor of The Wall Street Journal’s editorial page.

[...]

“I just think it’s time,” Mr. Rove said in the interview. “There’s always something that can keep you here, and as much as I’d like to be here, I’ve got to do this for the sake of my family.” Mr. Rove and his wife have a home in Ingram, Texas, and a son who attends college in nearby San Antonio.

In the interview, Mr. Rove said he expects Democrats to give the 2008 presidential nomination to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, whom he described as “a tough, tenacious, fatally flawed candidate.” He also said Republicans have “a very good chance” to hold onto the White House in next year’s elections.

Tons of reax can be found at Memeorandum, where Republicans and Democrats alike are celebrating.

Paul Gigot has a good write-up on Rove here. Pajamas Media has a link roundup.

      This makes sense.

The Democrats have been eternally frustrated at the consistancy in which Rove has been able to outsmart them- all they can do is shake their fists in the air in impotence.

I wouldn’t be suprised if he pops up in a behind the scenes roll for one of the Republican candidates.

Don’t worry, the dems will claim victory on this one and that it was they who forced him to resign. Mark my words.

      What Rove said:

“There’s always something that can keep you here, and as much as I’d like to be here, I’ve got to do this for the sake of my family.”

      What Rove meant:

“Send in the rookie, Coach. I don’t play in garBAGE time.”

Spittin chrissie matthews called Rove a bum on his pos show this afternoon.
The left will hound this man till the day he dies and the idiot democrats will still demand he appear at their dumbass hearings — all they have are hearings and ARE NOT DOING MUCH OF ANYTHING THAT CONCERNS THE PEOPLE’S BUISNESS — we should be investigating all those fools from nostralus waxman on down the line/

John Edwards in his usual classy way said “good riddance to bad rubbish” Which is a good example of the type mentality that the democrats are running for US President. I heard Karl Rove speak at a Republican fund raiser last year and he was an exceptionally interesting person to listen to. Like his friend George Bush, Rove is demonstrably very intelligent, knows what he is talking about and is feared by the left wing for good reason. He is smarter than they are and does not waste his time biting his nails over what they think of him. Rove has moved on because his job is done for now. Can’t wait for his book to come out before the 2008 election.

      Amen Mr. Rove!! – Lorica

    7. G Monster says:

Karl Rove’s job was to get George W. Bush elected as governer and then president. It’s quite obvious that he was succesful at his job. George W. Bush isn’t running for anything in the near future, so it makes sense for Karl Rove to take a breather.

The republican’s loss is FOXNews gain. Can’t wait to hear more from one of the cleverest political strategists and tacticians of all time.

Ailes will have him all over the place and maybe give him his own show too. ~o)
