Shocking news: Lincoln Chafee has “quit” the Republican party

I read this and thought what I’m sure other Republicans thought when they saw the news, too: That he’d left the Republican party long, long ago, just not ‘officially.’

That’s pretty old news for most of us; maybe he finally quit being in denial, is all…

Who cares, he was NEVER in the Republican party, so when do we get to hear ron paul’s announment?:d

Is Chafee running for re-election? Positioning himself for a win, maybe? He remains a light-weight, much like Jeffords. There’s no ‘there’ there!

Since his admission, after losing his Senate seat, that he only joined the Republican party because he thought he could win using it, I thought that was his way of telling us that he was leaving. It isn’t like he ever voted with the party that got him elected. He always voted with his other party. Personally this idiot is one of the many reasons that I believe that Reps need to do a hell of a lot better in vetting their candidates. My dislike of Mr. Chaffee is only equaled by my distaste for idiots, so you all know how great that is. – Lorica

This is why I refuse to donate to the Republican senate campaign committee, only to individual candidates. Last year Chafee had a solid conservative opponent in the GOP primary, but the Republican national campaign committee threw all its support and money behind Chafee. And had he not lost his seat, he’d have pulled a Jeffords and left the party anyway. Any money the national GOP sent his way was entirely wasted.

I will not blindly donate to or support anyone based soley on party label, no matter how many phone calls or snail mail pleas I get. I’m interested in the candidate, not the party. The day I think the Democrats can do a better job than the GOP on national security, I’m a Democrat.

I think the day I have to worry about this, is the day Lucifer goes to Wal-Mart to buy a snow shovel. =)) – Lorica

Agreed – and their excuse was that they wanted to ‘hold on’ to that Senate seat, which was silly if you think about it, because there really was little difference between Chafee and his Dem opponent, as Chafee almost never voted with Republicans, anyway.
