President to speak at the UN this morning (MORE – CUBAN DELEGATION WALKS OUT)

Captain Ed provides a preview for what he’s expected to say, and will liveblog the speech here or here.

Ahmadinejad is scheduled to speak there later today.

On a related note, Jimmie at the Sundries Shack has a link roundup of international press coverage Ahmeanie’s speech at Columbia received yesterday. The coverage was, of course, mostly negative on the US’ treatment of Iran’s Islamofascist ‘leader.’

Update 1: A tipster just emailed and told me that Fox News was reporting that Ahmeanie has cancelled his speech. Nothing yet on the Fox website. I’ll keep checking.

Update 2 – 11:16 AM: Still not seeing anything on Ahmeanie cancelling his speech, so maybe that was a false alarm on Fox’s part.

Update 3: VOA News reports that the Cuban delegation walked out during Bush’s speech.

  1. NC Cop says:

Cuba’s U.N. Mission said the American president had no moral standing to criticize anyone.

It accused Bush of responsibility “for the murder of over 600,000 civilians in Iraq” and for “the torture of prisoners” at the U.S. Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where more than 300 men are being held on suspicion of terrorism or links to al-Qaida or the Taliban.

“He is a criminal and has no moral authority or credibility to judge any other country,” the mission’s statement said. “Cuba condemns and rejects every letter of his infamous tirade.”

Now, honestly, if you didn’t know that Cuba was the one making these statements, wouldn’t you think it was coming from Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid?

    Scary.
