Paul Detrick has a post up today detailing CNN meterologist Rob Mariciano’s critical remarks of the Goracle’s crockumentary “An Inconvenient Truth”:
“There are definitely some inaccuracies,” Marciano added. “The biggest thing I have a problem with is this implication that Katrina was caused by global warming.”
[...]
Marciano went on to explain that, “global warming does not conclusively cause stronger hurricanes like we’ve seen,” pointing out that “by the end of this century we might get about a 5 percent increase.”
[...]
Marciano also sarcastically said, “the Oscars, they give out awards for fictional films as well.”
Heh. A short video of his comments can be seen at that same Newsbusters link.
You have to give Marciano credit for speaking so openly about how much of a skeptic he is of Goracle the “prophet“’s global warming alarmism – especially considering the suggestion last December by the Weather Channel’s Dr. of Global Warming Alarmism Dr. Heidi Cullen that any meteorologist who didn’t fall in line with the belief that man was the primary cause of global warming should not be issued an AMS Seal of Approval (and, via implication, that the Seal of Approval should be revoked if it’s discovered that the meteorologist is a gw skeptic).
Rob Marciano does indeed currently have the AMS Seal of Approval.
Hats off to him for not being afraid to verbalize his beliefs about so-called “man made” global warming, as he surely had to know that doing so would/will put him at odds with meteorological “experts.”
Update/Related: Trying to capitalize on his rock star-like status, the Goracle will be starring in an upcoming episode of NBC’s “30 Rock” series as a part of their “Green is Universal” week:
Gore’s office anticipates the episode will air as part of, what it called, NBC’s upcoming “Green is Universal” week of environmentally-based programming, Nov. 4 – 10. Note from ST: This isn’t the first time NBC has engaged in carrying the water for Al Gore. –ST]
NBC would not comment on the story.
As to what role the 2000 Democratic presidential nominee plays on the show or what the plot entails, “you gotta watch the show,” says Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider.
Um … any guesses?

Or will he lose his job?
So the one topic where we can get accurate reporting from CNN turns out to be the weather.
In contrast to the, ahem, Weather Channel.
Speaking of Al Gore…
Don’t watch much NBC. Don’t watch 30 Rock. I don’t have anything good to say so my mom taught me not to say it.
This entire exchange on CNN, by the way, was prompted by a British judge’s decision that An Inconvenient Truth isn’t science, but promotes – believe it or not – “partisan political views”. Schools that decide to show it in the UK must warn students that they don’t have to believe what they’re about to see.
