It’s exhilarating. Mind-blowing.
This is the first thing I read this morning – a timely, invigorating piece to read just a few days before Thanksgiving.
In it, Steyn talks at length about what is great about America in comparison to the rest of the world. But it’s not just an in-your-face essay to other western nations reminding them about what they’re missing out on. He also includes a reminder for Americans themselves not to forget about what a blessing it is to live in such a great nation. We shouldn’t take it for granted, he intimates, because our freedom is such a rare blessing in the context of human history.
Indeed, it is. So this Thursday when you’re contemplating your all you should be thankful for, remember to give thanks for the blessing of living in a free society – and remember to thank and pray for those who have made it possible, because, as we all know, the freedom we enjoy has never been free.
