The 2-0 Panthers hope to continue their winning streak today as they visit the 0-2 Minnesota Vikings, who are hungry for a win. WR Steve Smith will be back in action after serving a 2 game suspension for a nasty pre-season altercation with cornerback Ken Lucas in which Smith broke Lucas’ nose. Cutie Vikings QB Gus Frerotte will take over starting duties over Tarvaris Jackson for the rest of the year.
The Panthers 2-0 wins (against the Chargers and Bears) this year both come as the result of close games that were nailbiters right up until the end, so I anticipate tough battle today, even with the return of Smith.
Game time is 1 PM ET, and it will be broadcast on Fox.
Update 1 – 3:54 PM: It’s official: The Patriots have lost their first regular season game in, like, forever, to Miami – 38-13.
Update 2 – 4:04 PM: It was not a good day for the Cats. After going up 10-0 in the first half, a sack turned into a fumble, and it turned into a TD before the end of the half for the Vikings, and it was all downhill from there. Final score: 20-10.

I will be at work this evening, so I will miss the Dallas-Green Bay game.
So all Cowboy haters who are itching to degrade and abuse this life-long Dallas fan (since 1970), get your licks in before 5:00 PM CST.
I’ve got the Bucs-Bears up here in Wisconsin, so I’m missing that game.
Shock of the day – Miami crushing New England 21-6 at the half.
It hasn’t gotten any better for the Patriots, steve – looks like they’ve having the kind of day the Panthers are
Well, if the Giants don’t pull their heads out of you-know-where, they’re gonna lose to Cincinnati!!!!

Jacksonville kicks a 51-yard FG with seconds left to take the lead over the Colts! Wowzah!
The kickoff … a lateral – what the heck is going on with laterals in the NFL? – and it’s over!
Jaguars beat the Colts!
