Welcome to the United Socialist States of America

I certainly don’t mean to sound alarmist with the post title, but that’s what it feels like these days. Especially when you consider the lending industry bailout, the proposed auto industry bailout (which we know is going to happen), Amex has their hands out seeking fed “relief,” and now … mayors across the country are asking for an economic bailout from President-elect Barack Obama. Add to that the move to nationalize healthcare, already taking place in the Senate before Obama officially becomes president, and the confirmation by Obama’s Chief of Staff that “this country needs compulsory civil service.”

Obama hasn’t even taken office yet, and I feel like I’m already starting to not recognize this country anymore.

Update: Oh yes – and how could I have forgotten the promised “tax cut” for 45% of Americans who don’t even pay taxes?

  1. And look for states to start lining up with their hands out, too. California’s Assembly Speaker (who’s also my Assemblywoman) wants the Fed to give some of that money to Sacramento to make up for the deficit those jerks in the capitol ran up.

    Argh. :-l

The least qualified candidate giving the greatest expectations, looks like a bumpy road ahead.

You forgot compulsory unionization through the Orwellian-named “Employee Free Choice Act”. The EFCA or “Card Check” legislation would remove the secret ballot from the unionization process and force management to accept binding arbitration over negotiations with Labor. This would spell the end of non-union grocery stores and (perhaps most significantly)the unionization of retailers like Wal-Mart which has already said it would immediately be forced to close 50% of its stores if EFCA passes and is signed into law.

That was my first Twitter the morning after the election. So, you’re not alone in feeling that way.

The title is absolutely right on if you haven’t read “Atlas Shrugged” now would be a good time. I have purchased the flag of the USSR and putting Obamanation across it and at the coming coronation of the Messiah it will replace the Stars and Strips.

    Here is my favorite quote:

“There’s no exact words that were said,” said Police Chief Jose L. Lopez Sr. in a telephone interview Wednesday from San Diego, where he is attending the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference. “It wasn’t a racial slur, but we’re still investigating it.”

Soooooo There was nothing really there except, perhaps, maybe, a displeasure that Barack was elected, but we need to bring out the brown shirts and “investigate”. =)) That is just ridiculous. Dayum and the man isn’t even President yet. These next 4 years are going to be so hard to get thru, I just don’t see anything good coming from all of this. – Lorica
