Here’s an original holiday gift idea to help the person who may have everything, including a little something they don’t really want. A new way to mark the festive yearend celebration of life — a gift certificate for an abortion.
This year, for the first time, Planned Parenthood of Indiana is offering holiday gift certificates for that certain someone in your life who may want a breast exam, a pap smear or perhaps not want another life in their life.
Calling them an “unusual yet practical gift this holiday season,” the organization is selling gift certificates in $25 denominations, redeemable at any of the group’s 35 statewide locations for their services, including health screenings, birth control and abortion services.
A Planned Parenthood website page notes that a standard women’s health exam costs $58 while abortions in the first trimester can run from $350 to $900.
There’s even an online page to order the certificates if you know someone in Indiana who desires such services.
According to Ms. magazine, an official of the Hoosier Planned Parenthood group explained:
“People are making really tough decisions about putting gas in their car and food on their table, so we know that many women especially put healthcare at their bottom of their list to do.”
Next thing you know, we’ll be reading about abortion greeting cards.
Oh wait, that’s already been done.
Next thing you know, we’ll be seeing t-shirts implying pride over having an abortion.
Oh wait, that’s already been done, too.
Sigh.

How sick and twisted can people be! Durring the political campaign one thing the liberal illuminati (Obama mainly) kept saying in defense of their abortion stance was “no woman really wants to have an abortion.” They made it sound like abortion the worst alternative but needed to be an alternative none the less. I disagree with that stance but can respect it. This is just sick! Who prints t-shirt, greeting cards, or give gift certificates for abortions. This kind of stupidity needs to be outlawed!
Can you imagine getting one of these as a gift? Ewwwwwwwwwww. . .
What in the world is this World coming too?? And, my grandparents thought Rock Music was bad!! SHEEESH…..
Just a correction, but most of the services planned parenthood offers is NOT abortions. As per the website:
And while a getting a breast exam may not be the most “exciting” Christmas gift, it’s certainly better than not getting one at all
Alchemist:
I repeat, how would you like to be on the receiving end of a gift certificate for a breast exam or a pap smear?
EWWWWWWWWWWWW!
I would much, MUCH rather receive no gift at all than get something like this. UGH.
alchemist, that wasn’t a “correction.” It would only be a “correction” if what was written was inaccurate. It wasn’t. The gift certificates are for multiple “services” including abortions. Read the article again.
Why do you always excuse things that are clearly repugnant, alchemist?
I’m still trying to figure the calculations. In order for 642,000 to be just 3%, Planned Parenthood must do over 21 million activities throughout the year. I just don’t see it. Figuring that most of the women who had Pap tests, are the same women who had breast examines those 2 numbers cancel each other out as far as a customer base goes for an average year. Also it is a safe assumption that part of those that had STD activities had more than 1 in the year, it is safe to say that they do not provide this to an actual 3 million people. Also, how many of the women who have an abortion, also have an STD test??
So basically to say that 642,000 is just 3 percent of what they do at PP, is like me saying my 8 hours of work is only 5 percent of everything that I and my body does if you include every activity that goes on in my body.
It is silly to attempt to reduce the death of over 600,000 people to such tivial numbers Alchemist. It really is insulting. – Lorica
This title (also off LINK) is a better indicator of what they mean:
Estimated number of unintended pregnancies averted by Planned Parenthood contraceptive services each year: 642,000
They’re talking condoms, creams and the pill here, not abortions (possibly morning after, not clarified here).
For a better breakdown, go to this PDF (page 6) to see the breakdown of services per year. Total clients served (unduplicated) is 3,140,000. Note: Abortions offered is about 289,000 (or roughly 9.2%); there is no explanation of what % is surgical, and what is pharmaceutical… which I would be curious about.)
Any link on any PP page which shows that the gift certs are not supposed to be used for abortions, alchemist?
Margaret Sanger would be proud of you alchemist. Eugenic gift certificates for everyone this Christmas!!! Why not call up and offer to donate towards more minority abortions, we’ve seen that practice accepted by PP recently too.
Just sayin… I would never buy one, I admit it’s weird, but it’s not necessarily an abortion (at least in 90% of cases)
Whether or not the certificate is used for an abortion, the money goes to support an organization that performs and promotes abortion.
To Trish:
Why would you be so offended to konw that someone that cared about you wanted to contribute to your medical care, if only in this small way.
I know many women that, for myriad reasons, are single mothers with no health care. They use their hard earned money to take care of their families, and often neglect basic care for themselves, such as pap smears and breast examinations. Receiving a $25 certificate specifically for that purpose may seem to be crass, or not sufficiently frivolous, for a Christmas present for you, but would probably be very welcome and appreciated by a woman that otherwise would not bother taking care of herself in this way.
Well then LaUnika, you wouldn’t be upset if Al Queda or Hamas or the KKK set up a clinic and offered gift certificates for pap smears and breast exams and such right? After all, what the organization does with most of the money, or does with their “spare” time when they’re not doing gynecological work, doesn’t matter a whit right? Having ethics and a conscience about who you support is, like, soooo 20th century.
Just as long as said clinic isn’t run by Fox News right, I mean, a person has to have some standards…
To LaUnica–
That’s not caring. That’s an insult. Giving a “gift” certificate for medical care says plainly, “You’re not capable of taking care of yourself. I know what’s good for you, and you don’t.”
No one with any self respect would be anything other than offended.
