Panthers at the Giants (UPDATE: PANTHERS LOSE 34-28)

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on December 21, 2008 at 1:04 pm

Panthers logoThe big game between the Panthers and the Giants starts at 8:15 ET tonight. At stake is homefield advantage throughout the playoffs and the bragging rights to the best record in the NFC. Both teams currently stand at 11-3, with the Giants losing their last 2 and looking to not make it 3. Carolina has won the last 7 of 8 games.

The Panthers have won against the Giants on Giants turf before, but tonight will prove difficult if for no other reason than the weather: rain, snow, and cold winds.

The game will be broadcast on NBC.

Update – 12/22 – 8:35 AM: Our loss in OT last night had to be one of the most heartbreaking in Panthers football history. It was a hard fought game, and we could have put it away in regulation but missed a last second field goal thanks to Ol’ Man Winter’s blustery winds. We had another opportunity in OT to win after we stopped the Giants on their opening drive but failed to score a single point, and the Giants scored a TD the next time they had the ball.

If we have to face the Giants in the playoffs, I hope the revenge will be sweet for the Cats. Until then, we face the Saints in New Orleans next Sunday.

The weather is supposed to be cold and rainy/snowy which favors the Giants. God knows, the way they have been playing lately they’re gonna need all the help they can against a HIGHLY motivated Panthers team. Of course, no other Giants players have shot themselves in the leg, so they’ve got that going for them………which is nice.

    Should be a good one.

So, who ARE you rooting for, NC?

  3. BeachBabe NC says:

GO YOU GIANT CATS… Can one root for both teams???

  4. NC Cop says:

I have to stay loyal to the G-men. I hope the Panthers do well and go far, but as long as they Giants are still in it, they are my team.

  5. Dawnblood says:

14-10 Carolina. DeAngelo is on fire tonight!:d

  6. BeachBabe NC says:

Im so torn.. I would love for the Giants to win…..I have to say though… Carolina has been looking hot!!!!

  7. The Cats are looking great tonight .. so far.

  8. NC Cop says:

Cats are looking REALLY great tonight. The Giants defense needs to step up and make a big play to turn the tide.

That Deangelo Williams is unreal. I think the Cats are going to do well in the playoffs.

The G-men, not so sure. They cannot limp into the playoffs on a losing streak, they won’t last long.

  9. Mwalimu Daudi says:

Steve Smith did not help his team much on that last drive before the end of regulation. The holding call was both blatent and stupid.

Imagine if this thing ends in a tie :d

    #:-s Whew….

  12. NC Cop says:

Man, that was TOO close for comfort!!

Glad the G-men won, but I hope they do not have to face the Panthers in the playoffs.

  13. It was definitely THE game to watch yesterday, even if people did have to sit through KO’s commentary at halftime!

  14. Leslie says:

Whew! Amazing game. I never expected Brandon Jacobs to play, and look at Tuck playing with the flu. I guess he just refused to take himself out.

Cats have nothing to be ashamed of–four TDs for Williams. Against a great defense.

They will meet again, I’m quite sure.
