Part two of 24, season 7 – Open Thread

Rick Moran wasn’t impressed, but I found last night’s “season opener” intriguing. Looking forward to part deux in 45 minutes.

ST reader NC Cop thinks the writers are trying to turn Jack Bauer into a liberal:

Did anyone catch Jack’s little “speech” while sitting in the back of the car with the FBI agent.

“For too long we’ve done secretive things in the name of national security, creating two worlds. One for us and one for those we mean to protect. We should put it out there for the country to see and let them decide how far they want us to go.”

Or something to that affect. Are you kidding? It sounds like something out of one of Obamas speeches. What’s next, will Jack tickle terrorists with a feather to get information?

God help us, they turned Jack into a liberal.

I’m not so sure they are, especially considering what he said at the Senate hearing about not regretting anything he’d done in the name of national security, but that’s just my .02. What do you think?

  2. NC Cop says:

I WANT SOME PEOPLE TORTURED!!!!!! I mean, it just seems like he’s not like other seasons, but maybe I’m reacting too soon.

Time will tell. Kick their A@@, Jack!!!!!

  3. BeachBabe NC says:

    FINALLY!!!!! THANK GOODNESS.. some action!=d>

  4. LOL … gotta laugh that the FBI’s computers, at least on this show, get hacked more in one day that most of our computers do in our lifetimes. I feel so secure ;)

  5. NC Cop says:

Yeah, it’s also impressive how the FBI computers and all their technology and security are hacked by Chloe, sitting in a warehouse with a Dell. :d

Ok you have to wonder about the mentality, if they are turning Jack into a lib, then he just agreed to betray his country, but only for the country’s own good. Hmmmm art immitating real life?? – Lorica

  7. Neo says:

I missed most of last night, but saw enough tonight (before I shut off the TV) to see that they seem to be trying their darndest to kill this program.

For the first time since I started watching “24″, I really don’t care if all the planes crash to the ground.

The show goes into hibernation because of a writers strike and returns with bad writers.

  8. Marshall Art says:

Whoa! Slow down! Some story lines require more set up. It’s way too soon to pass judgement. Hey. Try reading Moby Dick. I’m half-way through and still waiting.

I was concerned about his comments in the back seat as well. For now I’ll write it off to idle musings. He wasn’t necessarily expressing remorse over his decisions in the field by doing so.

My only complaint was that it wasn’t Michelle Dessler who was brought back from the dead instead of Tony Almeida. I liked Tony, but Michelle was hot.

  9. Frank Hagan says:

Jack’s little speech in the back seat could have come from one of the latest Vince Flynn books. It also focuses on the disconnect between our well meaning civil libertarian friends and their inner desire for someone to “feel” the time is right to “do what it takes” to get information. The opening chapters of the Flynn book may be the source material, complete with the Mitch Rapp character choosing to go public about enhanced interrogation techniques (that the Senators privately support but publicly condemn).

  10. Early on 24 stopped using Islamists as terrorists and they even made the President an enemy. I stopped watching after the CAIR capitulation.
This new twist is sad, but I am not surprised.

They will try him on war crimes sooner or later.
