From “watchdogs” to lapdogs

The WSJ’s James Taranto has written an excellent piece today on how the mainstream media has turned from being government “watchdogs” (ahem) to government lapdogs, and all it took was a change … in the WH. Specifically it took our celebrity Democrat president.

Yeah, there’s been a little push back against the Obama admin here and there, they’re all just jockeying for position. Make no mistake about it: this media was in the bag for Barack Obama before he even decided to run for president. They’ve got too much invested in his success – and the success of liberalism in general – to suddenly start acting objective.

…and they wonder why they are losing readers/viewers faster than water running down an unpluged drain hole. I just wish more Americans would have decided the opposite of what the media wanted. I doubt we would have had either McCain or Obama. – Lorica

And when the ny times is facing extinction, what do they do? Eliminate the neocon writer. Kristol. One hundred liberal writers and one conservative, and when the axe falls, where do you think it lands? Maybe carlos slim will eat this bunch of liberal sycophants up and spit them out. There’s always hope—for change(at the nytimes) that I can believe in!:d
