Update – 11:25 AM: More commentary here, including a quote “clarification” from a Swampland blog reader that, if true, still doesn’t change anything.

Newsbusters’ Warner Todd Huston has a partial transcript and video of President Obama being interviewed by NBC’s Matt Lauer prior to yesterday’s Super Bowl, in which President Obama proceeded to make fun of singer Jessica Simpson’s alleged “weight battle” (via Memeo):
Lauer: Yeah, well — let — let me show you. This is the — the current issue of — of Us Weekly.
Obama: Right.
Lauer: And here’s a great picture
Obama: Oh, it’s beautiful.
Lauer: — of — of you and — and Michelle and — and your daughters. Now, the — the reason I bring this up I think is funny. It’s a great picture.
Obama: Yeah.
Lauer: But I wanna show you the cover. Look what they did. They — they took you off the cover.
Obama: Yeah.
Lauer: They took you out of it.
Obama: It — it’s — it’s a little hurtful.
Lauer: You got replaced by Jessica Simpson.
Obama: Yeah, who’s losing a weight battle apparently. (LAUGHTER) Yeah. Oh, well.
I wonder how long it will take before MSDNC alters the transcript to cover for the guy they helped get elected POTUS?
Love the headline over at Malkin’s blog: President Glistening Pecs laughs at Jessica Simpson’s weight problem.
Gateway Pundit catches another PO money quote: “People think I’m cool.”
Yeah? I can’t wait to see the reax from The Usual Suspects on the left once they wake up this morning and read about this.
Exit question: Will Tony Romo step out and defend his gal’s honor?

The more this guy opens his mouth, the more I have the proof that he’s inexperienced, ignorant, and most disturbing, totally immature!
To me I think Jessica is hotter now than she was before. She is more real to me, not just some blonde bimbo. I think it is completely shameful for the stick man of the people to say such things. It is completely below the office of the President to laugh at Jessica over a beauty standard few can meet, including the stick man.
I once read that the vice president of the Mattel company that helped design the Barbie doll, would not allow his Grand Daughters to play with them. He said it set up unrealistic beauty expectations, and it is pretty obvious from the stick’s comments that he was right. Damn am I upset about this. Who the hell is he to be so disrespectful?!?!?!?! – Lorica
President Obama was a media creation. Limelight he craves because he is a man without substance, experience aor true character. A real leader would not be jealous of losing the cover to an entertainment celebrity. This off cuff comment shows you the true substance of our pretender President
I’m glad the media isn’t shying away from the tough issues and is hitting the big O with hard questions. It really is important to know what the Pres thinks about a starlet who looks better on her worst day than most of us look on our best day (well, than I do, anyhow).
My first question when my wife told me about the Jessica Simpson thing:
“So is that Hollywood fat, or real-person fat?”
