Barackti Chai, anyone?

ST reader Lori sends along a tip about a Boulder-based tea company that released a limited edition version of its Bhakti Chai last month called Barackti Chai in honor of you-know-who:

Brook Eddy, founder and owner of the Boulder-based company, simply added a shot of AA+ Kenyan coffee to the chai concentrate to honor Obama’s roots from Kenya.

The company’s interest in politics goes beyond puns. “Bhakti means devotion through social action, so the company has been committed to social action through sustainable practices, purchasing only fair trade tea, and supporting local and international nonprofit organizations,” says Eddy. The company also donates a portion of its profits to various non-profit organizations throughout the year.

BARACKTI Chai can be found on the Bhakti website, at Vitamin Cottage (until February 1) and Whole Foods (until Saturday, January 24). The containers of concentrate includes a poem by Rabindranath Tagore, Nobel Prize winning poet and Indian activist.

Hmmm. Would this be something you had before or after your OMbama yoga class? :-? Or perhaps our president will have a cup today in Denver after he signs into law the bloated stimulus plan approved by Congress last week?
