I am not sure how to read the Brooks Op-Ed. I also hate the idea of ten guys sitting around in the White House trying to redesign huge swaths of the US economy on legal pads. However, I disagree that “they seem to be driven by a spirit of moderation & restraint.” While it is a fact that we are all in this together. . . I do not support the idea of rewarding irresponsibility, whether it is idiots in the government or the idiots who were encouraged to purchase beyond their means.
I read the Brooks piece three times and cannot figure out whether he is for rewarding irresponsibility or merely afraid to criticize the Obama administration.
