Obama has emboldened the pirates!
The AP reports on how Somali pirates are vowing to “hunt down and kill” Americans after the rescue of Captain Phillips this past weekend left three of the four pirates holding him hostage dead from sniper shots:
MOMBASA, Kenya — Somali pirates vowed to hunt down American ships and kill their sailors and French forces detained 11 other brigands in a high-seas raid as tensions ratcheted up Wednesday off Africa’s volatile eastern coast.
Pirates fired grenades and automatic weapons at an American freighter loaded with food aid but the ship escaped and was heading to Kenya under U.S. Navy guard.
The Liberty Sun’s American crew successfully blockaded themselves inside the engine room — the same tactic that the Maersk Alabama crew used to thwart last week’s attack on their ship. They were not injured in the attack Tuesday night but the vessel sustained some damage, owner Liberty Maritime Corp. said.
One of the pirates whose gang attacked the Liberty Sun said Wednesday his group was specifically targeting American ships and sailors.
“We will seek out the Americans and if we capture them we will slaughter them,” said a 25-year-old pirate based in the Somali port of Harardhere who gave only his first name, Ismail.
“We will target their ships because we know their flags. Last night, an American-flagged ship escaped us by a whisker. We have showered them with rocket-propelled grenades,” boasted Ismail, who did not take part in the attack.
Even though most of the credit goes to the Navy SEALS for taking out those three pirates, the successful rescue is being largely hailed by the mainstream media and the left as a “military victory” for Obama who, as ST reader GWR pointed out in the comments section of another post, is being portrayed by both as the next Gen. Patton.
So, with that in mind, can we “blame” Obama now for emboldening the pirates? After all, when President Bush responded to 9-11 by declaring a war on terror, and going into Afghanistan and Iraq, the prolonged wars caused many of the liberals who despised him to call him a clueless dolt whose responses to 9-11 emboldened terrorists and in effect were recruitment tools.
Barack Obama has endangered American lives with his reaffirmation of the military’s authority to act in the event a US civilian’s life is threatened! He’s emboldened the pirates by allowing three of them to be shot and killed by the Navy SEALS! I demand an investigation and furthermore an overhaul of the training manual on how the military is to respond when a US civilian is under threat of grave harm. President Obama has taken this whole “protecting” thing wayyy too far!

General Patton my ass!
Our sainted Messiah ordered Navy to try their best to solve Capt. Phillips problem peacefully with negotiations, and only in the case of imminent danger to Capt.’ life to use force. That is how it was presented by
Navy Admiral during the press conference regarding the rescue operation. Does it sound, even remotely, like Patton? Never mind the fact that such timid order prolonged Phillips and his family suffering needlessly for 4 days. After all, Maersk Alabama came to Mombasa with its crew on board and team of Navy Seals (as was reported on interned and in Mombasa). Navy Seals obviously were transferred from Navy destroyer on the scene. Should Navy commander had different,Gen. Patton like orders for the rescue, he would have used those Seals to free Phillips first, than sent Alabama to Mombasa with protection. It is not as if pirates were able to attack Alabama again in the presence of Navy destroyer. Pantywaist President strikes again, and I trust it is not the last time.
Unfortunately, if it wasn’t racist to disagree with the CIC, and if he were a moderate/conservative (meaning anyone right of Kennedy/Pelosi/Reid) this would be the screaming headlines in every paper in the land and the main theme of every idiot blog on the net.
Kudos where kudos are due. Unfortunately, all this “brave” man did was tell the navy heroes to stand down unless there was imminent danger.
Doesn’t take much of a man to do that, and you can bet the farm he was hoping he wouldn’t have to explain those orders to Moore, Soros, Ayers, etc.
Hmmmmmm, it seems we’re “creating” more terrorists, aren’t we? Where have I heard that before???

They get really upset every time someone takes action not authorized by the intelligencia/academia because it shows they’re not in total control of every aspect of every life. That frustrates them beyond belief because it shows the stupid proletariat can exist without them. If you’re not one of them you’re nothing more than ambient human scat.
I think perhaps we need to kill more pirates. That might cool down their “emboldened” attitude. Just a thought.
But Anon, that’ll just create more pirates, don’tcha know, and what we need right now with Superman/Jesus/Allah/Gandhi at the helm is tea and crumpets for those poor unfortunates who don’t seem to know where their homeland ends and international waters and laws begin.
