President Obama warmly smiles, shakes hands with Hugo Chavez

… you know, the man who called President Bush “El Diablo” and saluted America-hater Noam Chomsky while giving a speech at the UN back in 2006? The dictator who funds FARC terrorists and who is suspected of funding Hezbollah, too? Hoped America would be “finished in the near future”?

Malkin has the photo and commentary here. Can’t add anything more than that except to say I find the whole thing absolutely disgusting, and beneath the President of the United States.

Stop The ACLU viewed one of the pix as sort of a “fist bump.” (Hurl)

Oh – and this wasn’t just an incidental meeting. Obama sought Chavez out:

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago – Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called the last U.S. president “the devil.” But this U.S. president wanted to meet him.

So Barack Obama walked across a hotel ballroom here Friday and introduced himself to Chavez. The two leaders smiled and shook hands, chatting briefly.

Chavez’s office later said the two men talked about their mutual desire to change the relationship between their countries – a characterization the White House didn’t dispute.

Asked what he said to Chavez, Obama replied: “I said, ‘Como estas?’”

That’s it. I’m done giving him the benefit of the doubt on any issue. He’s gone too far, made a mockery of the office of the President, and legitimized a thug “leader” who has shown time and time again a blatant disregard for truth, freedom, human rights, and democracy.

Screw you, President Obama.

Hey, with President Pantywaist and his Comrades in Congress in charge here, maybe someday America will be as great of a country as Venezuela !! What an awesome example these Third World nations are for us to follow !!

  2. So now you’re officially a right wing extremist! :-?

    Welcome to the club…

  3. Brontefan says:

    Screw you, President Obama.

My sentiments exactly! As I mentioned in the Friday Open Thread–his arrogance and anti-Americanism is over the top. And this guy is in charge of OUR foreign policy?

  4. Sandra Klyn says:

As the name of the website says, “Toldjah”!!!:((

  5. Kate says:

I wonder what Barry will do with the book Chavez gave him as a gift….?

  6. Joe says:

Aww its cute- its like they just met at the prom and they are so giddy they can’t keep thier eyes or hands off each other….I hope Michelle doesn’t find out.

  7. Great White Rat says:

Well, why shouldn’t they be greeting each other warmly? Based on his administration’s action and Obama’s most recent speeches teleprompter readings in Europe, they’re of like mind on so many issues: America is arrogant, America has much to apologize for, government should own the banks and other companies, and anyone who disagrees with the government is an extremist who needs to be watched closely (and possibly silenced).

And please cite for me the last anti-American dictator that the liberals found reprehensible. Remember, we just had a gaggle of Democrat Congress-critters traipse down to Cuba to give a tongue-bath to the jailers there.

  8. Bosslowrider says:

No big suprise in how D’ohBama greets a fellow traveler. He probably thinks Chaves is doing a fine job ruining Venezuela. Sort of like he’s doing our country.

Kate, I know what I’d do with that book. Outhouses and Sears catalogues come to mind.

  9. Joe says:

@Great White Rat: “And please cite for me the last anti-American dictator that the liberals found reprehensible”

That’s easy…never. Liberals idolize dictators like as a 12 year old does his favorite baseball players. Well, Carter probably didn’t care very much for the Ayatollah after he kidnapped all those people just before the election, but I’m sure he has since forgiven him.:-\

  10. Carol says:

    Amen!

  11. Patricia says:

Hugo Chavez has been using an old Spanish saying to describe Obama: “aunque la mona se vista de seda, mona se queda (even if you dress a monkey in silk, it’s still a monkey…” The Obama administration better start learning Spanish. Blogs from Venezuela and other Spanish countries are making fun of Obama and the USA with quite an amount of racist epithets. They say that the USA is ball-less. They speak of Obama’s mother as a whore and Obama as an ignorant “negro.” They see no friendship. They do not want it. What they see is that the evil empire of the USA is pleading on its knees. Obama learn Spanish. Read the blogs. I am not amused. This is making us weak in the eyes of Latin America.

  12. unseen says:

can we call him a socialist yet? Maybe Obama needs to call the NYT again and explain why calling him a socialist is a LOL moment.

  13. Carlos says:

Patricia, what does a socialist culture using racist and racial slurs have to do with how wonderful and righteous and happy those countries are? Don’tcha see, if Zero ever expects to have a dialogue with them he has to subordinate himself and his nation to abject nothingness before they’ll “respect” him.

After all, wasn’t it him and his crony community activists who found that by properly supplicating (bowing and scraping) to banks, lenders etc. one could properly get their voices heard and understood, and consequently bring them to their economic (weak) knees?

So tell me, when did he change his mind about shouting and screaming and carrying a big stick (or schtick), and throwing one’s immense power and resources away in favor of acting like Chicken George?

  14. Helen says:

Look on the bright side: at least he did not think they speak Venezuelan. He didn’t, did he? :-\

  15. Carlos says:

No, but just think of the tingle that handshake sent up his leg!

  16. Chairman Oh and Red Hugo have a lot in common- both are arrogant narcissists with a racial victimhood complex… and are habitual liars.

Both displayed contempt for democracy/opposition once elected- and are absolutely clueless re. economic manners. And both are out to serve a far-left agenda while dragging a bountiful nation into the abyss.

So these two have plenty to chat about-

Actually, I think I respect Chavez more than our guy- he might be a misguided socialist yahoo, but at least he admits it.
